I'm trying to install my old router on my new computer. it keeps asking for a password i dont know. i tried reseting the router and uning ADMIN and LINKSYS but they dont work. I there a default password?

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Normally userame and password of linksys Router is admin and admin respectively, if it is not changed,
if still can't access, you can reset your router by pressing and holding reset button for few seconds,

go to a computer that has a wired connection and type into a browser either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2 (its different for different routers. If a screen pops up asking for a username and password then you have got the right one. Almostall routers default passwords are usually with "admin" as username and either "admin" or "password" as the password. Try both and see if they work- you can always call the manufacturer of the router to find out for sure. Good Luck!
go to the address bar in the internet explorer type there 1292.168.2.1then enter it then ask the user name and password
user name :cisco or admin or blank password : cisco or admin or blank or password
try this combination then go to the wireless in the security option is there in that wireless password is there as encryption like that in the wep or wpa or wpa2/psk like the option is there then change it
The default password should be "admin" with a blank user name. If it won't work, try admin in both fields. Also, when you reset the router, make sure the power is plugged in, and you hold the button at least 10 seconds.
You will need to log into the Router to recieve either the WEP/WPA/WPA-PSK keys from the routers HTTP:// interface Mind tho MACS dont work very well with WEP they do alot better with WPA format
