I have a 1 yr old samsung flat tv that has a sound but no picture..how can i fix it. i am in an isolated island here in basco, batanes philippines with no experts in repairing flat tv.pls advice. tnx

Hi,

Good Day,

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times.

Howdy,
First reset the TV by unplugging from a/c source for about 3-5 minutes. Plug TV back into a/c source. Then TV back on if no fix try this to isolate problem:

1. MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES.

2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB.

Patay sinde

Hi,

Your concern is that the TV turns itself off. This could probably be due to any of several possibilities:
1. cold solder or loose connection, may maluwag na koneksyon sa loob o mayroong hilaw na hinang. Kailangan lamang itong painitan ng soldering iron upang muling manumbalik ang kinang at tamang pagkakapit. May mga pagkakataon na maaring maluwag din ang ACplug sa outlet;
2. heat induced - may pyesa na nag-iinit at tumitigil sa pag-andar pag mainit na. Kadalas ay mga capacitor, transistor or regulator;
3. low supply of the AC mains - mababa ang kuryente, maaring ito ma-check sa pamamagitan ng isang Voltmeter. Kung mababa nga, maaring gumamit ng voltage regulator kagaya ng sa mga computer;
4. timer - may mga pagkakataon na mayroong timer kaya kusang nag-switch off anf TV makalipas ang takdang oras;

Of course repairs would involve knowledge and familiarity with electronics circuitry and components, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
