My duaghter has a samsung g600 phone. The problem she has is somehow the sound for music and video stored on the memory card is not working. Also the phone has a built in sample video which is not playing any sound either. It is not any settings or the speaker at fault. She can play melodies and the sound works.I have been told that there is some sort of lock on the memory card yet if i put just the card onto my computer it all works fine. But its not just the memory card that doesn't have sound, because as i said earlier the built in sample video sound is not working either. Any suggestions ?

yes you will lose all data. But now it all depends as if you have all these data stored on the memory card then you will lose them. But if instead it is stored on the phone's internal memory then a format of the memory card will not change any of the phone's data, provided you are formatting the memory card and not the phone's internal storage...Hope this helps.
Using a 4gb scandisk in your samsung g600 will work but it will slow down the all the functions of the phone or it might hang or freeze the phone. I will advice you to use a 1gb scan disk memory card as recommended by samsung which will be perfect for it or at most use a 2gb scan disk. Take care
Just remove your Memory Card for few minutes and again insert the Memory Card, then it's works fine. I too had the same problem in my Samsung Champ. But now it's all fine now.
Click the "Menu" button on your phone, go to "My files". Go to "Music" and in the little window to the right select "memory card". Scroll down untill you find the music you wan't to select as a ringtone. click "options", "Move to", or "Set as" Ringtone, or move to phone. Make sure your phone is not in silent mode, this phone can be tricky, but be don't worry, i had the same problems with my phone. The main thing is that the music, mp3, or tone must be in the music file on your phone.
I hope this helps, this phone is a pain in the *** at first but really is a great phone.
You will have to reformat the card in your computer or at the store, and then put the songs back on it. Somehow the files have corrupted and will not longer work. Sorry! :(
Check if your batteries are getting hot when charging. If it is, then your charger is working. Maybe it is your battery. If you want to store your files in your memory card, you can do so by inserting your card into a memory card reader. I dont know if samsung is like motorola wherein, if the phone has a memory card and the connection setting for the phone is to read the memory card by usb. Then windows xp recognizes this as a removable storage device. Or if you want to store files directly to your phone memory, you will need the software cd included in the box.
What you have to do to put files on your computer or take them from your computer onto your phone is: go onto settings, onto phone settings, onto USB settings and chage it to either mass storage (if you want to put pictures, music and videos on) or media player (to just transfer music). Then plug in the USB cable that came with your phone into your computer/laptop and follow the instructions from there. NOTE: This only works with the Sampsung G600
