Can't get Xbox live to Connect to Xbox Live

When I try to connect it tells me that it can't connect so it goes through the tests, passes the fact it is connected to something but fails at the IP test.
My XBox is connected to a LinkSys EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Switch. Then is connected to a Motorola Broadband Modem.
I've also tried just connecting the Xbox straight to the modem but that didn't work either.

The new update that the xbox is doing today ,,,it tells me to test my connection , my connection is good and working just does not go all the way across the last part of the testing bar but is connected...

I fixed mine by going into System Settings, Network settings, then running a test on xbox live. Initiating the test logs your profile out then runs a network test. The test completed with no problems and then asked me if I wanted to update again. Without logging back into my profile I clicked OK and the update ran without a hitch. I think the solution lies in the fact that my profile was logged out and from what I have seen, the only way to connect to xbox live without a profile being logged in is with a network test. Once you connect to xbox live it senses that you don't have the update and asks you again, this time without a profile logged in and you are able to do it.

What so I need to have xbox conected to the pc? what part of product do I need to be conected to xbox live?

You need to have windows live and a wireless router or Ethernet cable that goes directly from your modem/computer/ to your Xbox. As for Xbox live, same process, most people have wireless adapter to connect to their wireless router. If it doesn't connect when you test it, it will tell you why. Have fun and hope this helped, if you have more questions contact me.
Good luck!

I can't connect to xbox live , it tells me to test my connection , its going fine , halfway to through the xbox live bar then an update pops up , if i say i dont want it , it signs me out of xbox live

have you tested the Internet connection? what are you using wireless or wired? this isue comes up sometimes when you use wireless and it looses signal... this can happen if the xbox is too far from the wireless router OR there is interfearence ebtween the 2 devices (microwave, wireless phones, etc.)

Trying to get xbox live

You have to purchase an xbox live membership, and then you can connect with an ethernet cord right to the consel from your modem, or purchase the wireless adapter for it.

Xbox live test fails and so does update

you need to open the port that the update is trying to go through. the easiest way is to turn your firewall off, but this opens up your security. another way is to forward the correct port through port forwarding on your router. findout which port xbox live uses and put in the information to the router

XBOX Live problems with Belkin N1 router

I suggest setting this up with a WPA encryption rather than WEP encryption. This should get ya setup without a problem. Also, I've noticed live to be a bit buggy since Christmas. If you continue to have troubles after trying this call 800-4my-xbox. The recording will tell you if they are having network issues.

I bet this helps!

Connecting to xbox live failing

The xbox live board is down,so if you pass all tests except the xbox live one, this is the problem.I rang them and they said over 50% of users are having this problem. Its because so many people went on it over Christmas and the system got overloaded. They said they're working on it and it should be up and running in a week or two. ~~PS~~ I rang on the 12-1-08 so it should be up by the 20th,its not your fault, the servers down.
