Why does my nuvi 255w not find any roads. I took

Do a hard reset on your GPS. Download and install Garmin Express from Garmin. Plug your GPS into your computer. The software will identify your GPS and allow you to download new maps to it.

I had this happen on one - I took it in and charged it for over night -unplugged it and wham it worked - it was low on the battery is all.

This may be a result of a previous software version on a device or possibly some one changing the settings. If a device does power on with a foreign language that you can not understand it can be corrected by going through the settings to change the text language.
To change the text language:

1. Touch Wrench icon on the screen with the Magnifying Glass and Map icon
2. Touch the Gears icon
3. Touch the down arrow
4. Touch the second option from the top1
5. Touch the middle blue box on right
6. Touch the up arrow until American English appears2
7. Touch American English
8. Touch OK
9. Touch Back

The device should be in selected text language.
Note 1 - In some cases, if there are Custom POIs loaded to the device then it may be the first option at the top.
Note 2 - If American English is not the language needed, please selected the desired language

What do you mean, "change the country"? The unit came with maps for the country in which it was originally sold. If you want to get maps for other countries, they are available for purchase at www.garmin.com or your local GPS retailer.

Save the destinaion as a favorite.

To correct your Nuvi 255W, I recommend a hard reset and an update of your Nuvi 255W firmware.

Finally got it to turn on, but then it had no sound. Took it back to Best Buy and they exchanged it for a new one.
