We used our Husqvarna for about 20 minutes when it stopped rotating. Turned it off and was idle absolutely fine but the chain still won't turn. Sorry, don't know the model, but it's brand new....??

I think the chain brake is tripped. If you have not removed the clutch cover good. Do not! Grasp the forward most handle and pull it slowly aft. It may require a little additional force at rear most position. You may hear a loud click when a detent engages a keeper, no need to panic. If you forced the cover off reply below with the model and serial numbers and I will help reset it with it removed from the saw. Reply below if needed. HTH Lou

Well you have the best chainsaw made, so not to worry, I'm sure it is something simple. First, take off the cover, check to see if the chain is in it's groove on the clutch. If not, put it in there, tighten up the blade and tighten up the cover., If it is in the groove, it must be the clutch. I would take it back, tell them you have a bad clutch, tell them to change it, don't let them torque it on, just snug it up, they always strip the bolt when they torque them on. And you will never get it off. A real simple fix and fairly inexpensive.

On some of the new chain saws there is a safety switch on the guard in front of the handle, it goes forward to lock the chain and pull it back to unlock the chain sometime make sure it is in the it is pulled back and check to see if it is still hook up to the switch.

Husqvarna Chainsaw Chain stopped turning

Have you take the chain brake off..? This is a band which grips the clutch drum and must be disengaged before use.

Check chain tension, this shouldn't be too tight.

Did you also put chain oil in the oil tank.?

My saw was working fine then it turned off and i tryed to ajust it and i think i made made things worst how do i ajust it to the factory setting the H and the L and LA it a stihl 039

Make sure your saw is about half full of fuel. It makes a difference on the adjustment. Start your saw and let it warm up to operating temperature. Then turn the saw off for a minute. So you can do the initial adjustments,

first using either a small screwdriver or hex screwdriver ...depends on what the 039 has.

Turn both the Low speed (L) and High speed (H) clockwise until they stop. The turn them both one full turn counterclockwise.

Then with the screwdriver turn the H screw slowly clockwise. You will notice it will start to run faster as you turn it. Adjust the screw until the saw is running smooth and fast until it starts to 'flutter" . Then turn it slightly back . This will get the proper RPM.
If it is running too fast,or too slow, turn the Idle Adjustment screw (IA)( it is an i not an L) counterclockwise to lower the idle or clockwise to higher the idle.

Put the brake on and let it idle. Then turn the saw different times to each side and up and down. If it turns off or sputters, turn the L screw slowly back a little to adjust it and that should give you the proper adjustment. Now , if there is nothing else wrong (like a vacum leak) your saw should run fine.
If you absolutely can't adjust it. Something else is wrong it is sucking air through somewhere. Take it to the shop. or if you can, DIY, then by all means do it.

Was using Husqvarna 350 chain saw after 20 minutes --- it quit (like someone had turned it off). It won't restart. 5 year old saw - used very little. What can I trouble shoot myself before taking...

Remove the spark plug, earth it to the top of the cylinder, crank the engine and check for a spark, if there is no spark replace the ignition unit, if there is a spark, remove the two screws holding the muffler on and remove it, check the condition of the piston through the exhaust port, any signs of scuffing and the cylinder will have to be removed, and the engine condition assesed

Reference the Husqvarna 350 chainsaw. Why does the chain continue to turn at idle? I just installed a new clutch. Adjusting the idle down causes the saw to shut off upon trying to accelerate.

Sounds like the clutch is still grabing. Easy solution is to apply the chain brake at idle to stop the chain turning. Try adjusting the L screw for a smoother idle.

Husqvarna 137 Chain won't stop when idleing. I turned the T screw down just enough to keep it running chain keeps on going. Could it be the clutch?

your carburator is gummed up. Get some carb. cleaner additive for your fuel, run a couple of tanks of treated fuel through the saw and it will be ok.

Husqvarna chain saw starts and runs for 20 minutes then stops.

two things could be happening.......first is vapor lock......make sure you breather tube is clear and working........next is ....it could have a bad ignition coil on it.....after the coil gets hot the spark can become irratic or just not work any more.....
