I don't recommend upgrading the computer's RAM because this computer only supports up to 2Gb at max, if you upgrade it to 4Gigs (2pcs 2Gb), the machine may not boot up at all.
try hooking it up to an external monitor through your vga jack and see if the sceen appears on the external monitor first. if so then its most likely a bad back light on your laptop screen or inverter
Your system comes stock with one stick of DDR2 (512 MB), which means that it is _ not_ dual channel DDR2 memory as dual channel DDR2 must be installed in matched pairs. Try to exchange the new memory for 2G of some single channel DDR2.
You need to do a BIOS Upgrade. First get the name of your BIOS when the computer boots up. Then go to the we site and find your BIOS brand and get a version update or upgrade.
