That sound could be whats called air-bound, need to purge system, Fill radiator, run engine for about 4 minutes at idle, turn off let cool down for about 5 min then being careful recheck coolant in radiator, top off fluid then repeat, make sure overflow bottle is full, After about 3 times when radiator stays full run about 15 min and listen for radiator fan motor coming on

Overheating new heater core, radiator, thermostat, fan module

This problem is caused by the coolant temperature sensor and this will cause you to think the car overheated but the gauge isn't working properly as supposed to

I have a 97 lhs I overheated so I replaced the thermostat and the radiator..I was driving down the highway and my temp was hot it started to lose power and shut off..now when I try to start it..sounds like...

Is the radiator still full of coolant ? Are you saying the engine will not crank ? Have you pulled the spark plugs and checked for coolant in the cylinders ?

Toyota prado 2001 v6 5vz engine, will start but wont run

OK - You confirmed the thermostat was causing the overheating? Sounds like fuel injectors - but check the spark plugs and ignition coils first.

I just put a brand new radiator and radiator cap in my car and its still over heating and now its misfiring what could be causing this?

Did you bleed the cooling system? and check operation of the thermostat, which should have been done after fitting radiator before finishing by putting on radiator cap.
If not remove radiator cap when cold get vehicle warm and check thermostat operation, while bleeding any air pockets in cooling system and if no flow and bubbles or it starts to boil (shooting water) out of radiator the thermostat could be jammed or head gasket blown.
Sounds like it could be a blown head gasket. Get it hot again and miss firing, remove and inspect all spark plugs you may find a very clean spark plug indicating water entry into that cylinder or even water/coolant droplets in spark plug. You can also hold paper over spark plug holes and give the engine a quick crank over to see if any water comes out of cylinder while cooling system is still under pressure, or use radiator pressure tester to pressurize cooling system, wait 5-10 minutes and then crank over checking for water/coolant in cylinders. Another tool to check for blown head gaskets that cause overheating is a TK Head check, which sniffs the cooling system for evidence of exhaust fumes in cooling system.

Hi I have Altima2005 auto trans, it starts normal but after running 5 or 6 KMs it starts shivering (like misfire), i just replaced its sp plugs but didn't work... any suggestion?

does it show to be overheating?? sounds like it could possibly be overheating..check water in radiator and then thermostat located inside upper radiator hose where hose is mounted on front of motor.. take the thermostat out and put in near boiling water and see if you see it open up... if your thermostat is not opening, it will cause the car to over heat after driving for awhile and cause what you are describing..

I START THE CAR AND AFTER DRIVING MAYBE 3 BLOCKS IT GIVES ME A HIGH TEMP AND SHUTS DOWN THE CAR.

Sounds like a number of things. I would start with the thermostat. Other conditions such as a plugged radiator or warped head gasket are possible. An overheated engine won't last long.

Overheating when A/C on.

There are a lot of things that can cause overheating. The first and most common is the thermostat sticking. Next is your radiator fan. Your water pump. Restricted radiator air flow. Make sure the front of your car is not restricted in any way, and the fins of your rad isn't plugged with bugs, or dirt.

Car all of a sudden started overheating. Already had timing belt, serpitine belt, spark plugs, water pump and radiator plug replaced 2 months ago -could this be as simple as a thermostat? 135,000 mile 2001...

The thermostat is the most likely problem and also the easiest/cheapest to replace. You could also start by checking the fuse for the electric engine fan, if it is good you could try to disconnect the fan and run 12v ( + and -) to it directly from the battery. It should turn on.
