go to everest home edition down load the free version and then run it . it will tell you the name of the hard ware in your computer then you goto that hardware manu facturer web site and install the drivers for the version of that product

this may be a problem relating to your system device driver files.
Try This:-
go to My Computer/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager. at the bottom of the page you will see USB.
If you have any yellow symbols ( exclamation Marks ) then the driver has been corrupted, or installed incorrectly.
if you have a system restore disk. this may solve the problem for you. or recovery cd.
