We recently replaced the lamp on our tv and it worked for a while, but then the tv completely shut down and the flashing indicator iin front of the tv for th power/standby was flashing red 6 times.

A blinking yellow for this model indicates the TV is too hot, unplug & allow 30-45 min to cool before re-plugging .
OR: lamp not installed or lamp door not closed. there is a lamp door switch that may not be closing, simulating door not closed

LED Indications

The front panel Status LED provides an indication of

the set's operation and the possible cause of a malfunction.

If an abnormal condition is indicated, perform the

Self Diagnostics procedure.

Self Diagnostics

To activate, press the front panel <ACTIVITY> &<CH

??> buttons at the same time and hold for 5 seconds.

The STATUS LED will then flash denoting a two digit

code.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the

MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2

second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the

(ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED

will flash two times, pause, and then flash three

times.

Error Codes, descriiptions and the most likely cause of

the error are listed in Table 2-3.

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down." The LED

will probably be indicating an abnormal

condition. If the TV is switched Off, AC is

removed, or a System Reset is performed, the

code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

See the Error Code Log to retrieve a history of

errors.

Note: Use the front panel buttons, not the remote

control.

Note: If there is no response, the front panel may be

locked by a V-Chip setting. To unlock, press

and hold <ACTIVITY> on the front panel for

8 seconds.

Fast Blink Green (80 seconds) > Off Power Off (Cooling fan still working, 80 sec)

Lamp light blinking yellow means lamp door not installed.
Lamp light solid red and TV shut off is lamp error (did not light.)

Inspect the lamp again. When you replace it, make sure you DO NOT TOUCH the glass. Make sure all doors and covers are securely in place before you turn it on.
As a rule, expensive lamps have a very short life.

if its the lamp indicator flashing its an issue with the lamp. If the lamp is new I would double check to see if its making contact completely when its slid in often the pins can get bent slightly. If it were the ballast the power indicator would blink 5 times.

The lamp in the tv been in use about 1 1/2 or 2 years,the tv on about 4 or 5 hours a day?The lamp life span is over.Replaced the lamp.

3 lights on front flashing indicates lamp quit. Could be lamp or ballast.

When the set shuts off, there should be some indications on the front such as teh lamp or temp indicators. Are any of those lit or flashing? Recheck to make sure that all access doors are completely closed. There are interlocks that will shutdown the set built in so that if the doors are not closed, the set will shut down.

lamp light flashing? possibly going out and needs replacing. google search the model number and lamp replacement, you might get lucky and find a replacement. around $250.

your tv is talking to you basically, is telling you that the lamp has to be replaced. this is a common problem with this dlp tvs, when the lamp is bad the shuts off within minutes, so just replace the lamp my friend.
