Hi Dear, I can help you, if you have information about your hard drive.

You can retrieve 4 complete drives with this software. You can buy and also get from the internet "Active Partition Recovery".

Follow these simple and small steps and then you can retrieve data.

>> CD should be bootable.
>> Insert the Disk into CD-Rom.
>> Choose Boot from CD-Rom
>> Run "Active Partition Recovery" from the Disk.
>> Scan your hard drive for recover data and provide the lost drive's partition informaiton correctly and press enter.
>> For saving recovered partition press ESc and then choose Y for saving data or recover data.
>> After completing the process take a reboot and then once again install OS (XP or Vista etc.)

Now you have recovered your data or recovered complete partition.

Take a reboot

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck

Can't retrieve data

Be sure to use the WD supplied USB cable to connect the drive. I had a similar problem with my WD Passport 320 and was told that using a cable other than that short 8 inch cable can cause some odd operations.

The WD does not show up

I had the same problem with my WD eBook external hard drive. I had to send it back to the factory at Western Digital and they replaced it free. From their support website, you can download the shipping label after you enter your serial number and other information. When drives make that kind of noise, its not a good thing and you have done the right thing already by trying it on other computers. Now you know it won't work.

250 GB Western Digital external HD not detected by Win 98 SE

If you installed SE on Win 98, then here is a link to a generic USB driver that should work with your HD. If at some point you decide to install a newer OS or go dual-boot, you can always partition the HD so you don't lose any storage. Best of luck.

My WD Mybook TByte HD is not being recognized

There could be many reasons, but I had the same issues.
It turns out I had mistakingly swapped the 12v DC PSU with another one, the drive would light up, it would click but that was it. Nothing. Gave me the runaround for ages. Seems they need more current than the little PSU I was trying could deliver, so I swapped it for a 2 amp supply and it works fine.

Flashing light on WD 500GB External Harddrive

This may sound silly, but sometimes if you put the drive in the freezer overnight it will work long enough for you to retrieve your data.Make sure you are ready to copy the data to another as it will likely fail again once it warms up.

221 GB Free on MyBook - Error states not enough space for backup

It may be due to the file system.  If formated as FAT32 files larger than 4gb may not transfer.  Try reformatting as NTFS to fix the problem.
