Laptops have very complicated circiute board and if you do not know anything then please do not try it because if something goes wrong then the laptop will be completely dead and it will cost much more than replacing the speaker.

realistically, I would say they've had their time, and it would not be worth repairing. it could be more than just the speaker that blew, parts for desktop speaker systems are almost nonexistant unless you know you're way around jury-rigging electronics. Plus, there are quite a few new sets out there that would be superior to what the ACS400 puts out, for decent pricings. I myself am a big advocate of the Logitech THX-certified product lines- they have excellent bass, crystal clear sound, and are great value for the money.
to recone these speakers would not be cost effective. I suggest you buy replacement speakers. a good source of high quality (even higher than the ones in your unit) is www.martinsoundproducts.com they sell many different kinds and sizes of speakers. If you want to go an easier route you could buy replacement speakers from Best Buy or Radio Shack, but they would not be of the highest quality. one last place to buy speakers is from a high end music store that caters to professional musicians and maybe has a repair dept, (where you could order the speakers you need) good luck, the Waferdale speakers are great, too bad you blew them out.
Hi barry546,
The replacement of the speakers on an LCD should be easy. If the speakers cost you $40 and you can save on labour by DIY then is still cheaper then buying a new TV.
What's the model number of your LCD?
I've had this problem too multiple times. Usually when it happens, the battery dies soon after, and once I replace the battery, the buzzing goes away. If you are having the same problem as me, try putting a fresh battery in :)
You should be able to find a replacement speaker for that unit though mouser electronics.
I would suggest dealing with the speaker exchange in florida. You can take the speaker out and mail it to them. They will either match it up to a replacement or repair it for you. Their prices are really good and they have a super quick turn around. I have used them several times with awsome results.
If no warranty - remove amp and check sub to another amp to isolate speaker from internal amp. Either the amp blew a channel or subwoofer blew. JBL's are typically well built. Has this speaker often been pushed loud often?
