Dymo LabelPOINT 100 Thermal Printer Logo
Posted on Jan 21, 2010

Hi I'm wondering if the Dymo pocket will take a tape, so that I can iron labels on to clothing or even be stitched on. If so what would the cassette be called. Thanks

The Dymo label printer capable of printing iron on tape is the Dymo Letratag. There are a couple of model printers

Dymo Letratag - handheld model
Dymo Letratag - desktop model with qwerty keyboard

and the Dymo 18771 Letratag iron on tape is the tape cartridge available.

Please make sure the width of the tape is sufficient. You can select it every time you insert the cassette. If you would like step-by-step instructions, feel free to ring us (see dymo.com for numbers).

My dymo letratag prints only bottom half of a name

Your cassette tape has probably become unthread. Take the cassette out of your handheld printer. Make sure that the tape is fed under both claws on each side of the tape. If the tape is only under one claw, your label will not be flat and will only print the bottom half of the letter on your label.

For now, here are the QX50 codes, just in case they help:

Poor Print Quality from Electronic Labelmaker trnsp.gif Question I have an electronic labelmaker that is printing poorly. The print on the label is either very light, incomplete, or striped. How can I resolve this?
trnsp.gif Answer Proceed with the solutions listed below if you have an electronic labelmaker. If you have a LabelWriter printer that is printing poorly, click here.
Solution 1:
Replace the existing batteries with a new/fresh set of alkaline batteries. The print head requires a significant amount of battery power to ensure proper printing on the label. Light print on the label may be an indication that the batteries need to be replaced.
Solution 2:
Replace the existing tape cassette with a new tape cassette. Light printing may be an indication of bad label stock.
Solution 3:
Using the special brush supplied with your labelmaker (located on the inside cover of the cassette compartment) or a cotton swab with a soft solvent (e.g. rubbing alcohol), carefully clean the transporter roller and print head. Dust, dirt, or glue may accumulate on the rubber transport roller or print head inside the cassette compartment and adversely affect print quality.
If the solutions listed above do not resolve the problem, please contact DYMO Technical Support to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) Number.
Obtaining a Return Material Authorization (RMA) Number:
  1. Click the Ask a Question tab at the top of this FAQ.
  2. Fill out the email form completely and include the following information in the Problem Description field:
  • Full Name
  • Full Shipping Address (No PO boxes)
  • Phone Number
  • Date of Purchase
  • Model Name/Number

-hope this helps.

Printing

I was having the exact same problem & had lost my user's manual (you can go on the Dymo.com website to download a replacement). The !!!!!!!!!! display means that there probably is a tape jam. Here's what the manual says:
*!!!!!!in the display indicates that the tape can not be transported *Press any key to return to normal display *Check if there is a tape jam. In that case, life out the cassette and carefully release jammed tape. Cut off excess tape and refit/replace the cassette *If there is no tape jam replace the batteries
