  1. Check the IPL for your saw to see if any special tools are needed. Poulan (Craftsman, Jonsered, Husky) clutch removal tool part number 530031112 if needed, is under $5 from many sources,
  2. There are metal piston stops available, when square (almost never) with the piston top these work well, if not square they have been known to punch through the piston. I suggest a length of starter cord or nylon rope be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises.
  3. Everyone I have ever removed had a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it).

Instruction to remove and replace cage bearing on husqvarna 055 chainsaw.
I guess we are talking the bearing in the clutch drum, to replace this you need to remove the side cover nuts and remove the side cover/chainbrake, make sure the brake is de activated by pulling the hand guard fully back to the top handle before removing it, the clutch has a 15mm centre nut, jar the clutch off against the compression of the saw with a suitable socket and speed brace, if you have an impact wrench this will remove the clutch in seconds, the clutch is just spun onto the crank with a left hand thread, turn clockwise to remove, once off the drum and bearing will just come off the crank for replacment.

How to get the clutch off on a 142 husky
  1. Turn off the saw and release the chain brake. The chain brake is the plastic handle located on the topside of the saw's body, and is between the bar and the throttle. With a gloved hand, spin the chain to ensure the brake is off.
  2. Use the wrench to loosen the bar nuts until they are finger tight. Use the flathead screwdriver to loosen the bar tensioner screw. This screw is located in between the bar cover's two metal posts, and can be reached through the small, round hole in the cover's center.
  3. Finish loosening the bar nuts and remove the bar cover. Take off the bar and chain; set them aside in a safe place.
  4. Unplug the spark plug from the rubber spark plug connector, located on the top of the saw's body. Push some of the chainsaw's starter chord string into the spark plug cylinder to block the piston from moving while taking apart the clutch.
  5. Remove the clutch assembly with the clutch socket wrench. Husqvarna chainsaw clutches are left-locking nuts, so you will need to turn the bolt clockwise to loosen it. Tap on the socket's handle with a hammer if the bolt won't loosen.
  6. Remove the bolt and pull off the clutch cover, clutch spring and clutch drum. Replace these parts if they are chipped, warped or heavily worn.
  7. Follow these steps in reverse order to reassemble the clutch.

How do you adjust the oiler on a husqvarna 268 xp chainsaw
use the control screw on the oil pump

it is located on the top left side of the oil pump casing to the left of the sprocket with the chain and bar off

turn it anti clockwise the check oil output
( no chain and bar on ) if still not right try the other direction
and retry if still not putting out enough oil

may need to clean tank and pickup filter
check pump driver and drum , check oil oulet line
check oil pump itself - it could be worn or air is getting in on the oil inlet side and it not drawing oil

to get these pumps out remove clutch and drum , remove pump drinver
undo 4 x screws and remove pump assy plate

almost sounds like the driving drum engagement end has rounded off or the end of drive shaft broke off at either end , or the gear head end is broken / damaged

have a look at the splines on the output shaft on the gear head , check the plate that engages those splines too

physicaly take off the tube / shaft assy from power head and check drum and clutch rotating , check drive shaft end (s)

if ok refit tube / shaft assy ( make sure engaged properly)
tighten mount bolts - remove gear head from end of shaft, start motor and run see if shaft turns ok with some rev s if so
problem is in the gear head

Remove the chain and bar cover. Remove the chain and bar. Remove the nut on the drum (Air impact wrench is best for this if you do not have one use wrench and hammer to loosen the nut) Remove the drum you will then have to remove the clutch by striking with a brass rod and hammer.
