Set wep now cant login to enternet or router, and no lights
I have a netgear wireless g router, not sure of model number right now but I looks like the ones in the pictures, the one with the blue dome on top that's lights up blue when on, anyways it was runnning fine unsecured, then i decided to change it with a wep sucurity and I made it so the ssid wasnte broadcasted, after I changed it and hit enter, it lost enternet connection, I tried loging back in and it wouldn't let me, I keep putting the passphrase I set, but it won't let me in and I don't know the passkey cause I figured all I need was the phrase, and the key was generated, I couldn't get back on line so I reset the router, held rest for 10 seconds, unplugged it, everything, still can't get online, also the blue led dome light won't turn on anymore, and the power light is green and the enternet light is green, but the wireless light won't light up at all, what do I need to do to get my router working again, when I type in the passphrase it says that the passpharse has to have so many cap sensative and so many hexadecimals, but it won't login in and I try to log back in to the router and it won't cause it says there's no coonection, what can I do to fix, thanks for the help?

RECONFIGURE THE ROUTER:
1. Please remove all the connections from the router. Connect power to the router and then connect a cable from the computer into any of the 4 lan ports on the router. Make sure the modem should not be connected to the router or to the computer. 2. Open up the Internet Browser (Safari, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, etc.). 3. Put http://www.routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm in address bar. 4. On the basic setting page scroll to the bottom and click on Apply. 5. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive). 6. Click on lan ip setup under advanced. 7. Change the lan ip to 192.168.10.1 and under use router as a dhcp server change the starting ip as 192.168.10.2 and ending ip as 192.168.10.51, click apply and click ok for any popup message that arise. 8. You need to configure your router with wireless encryption.
Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on your computer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL - http://192.168.0.1 The default login = admin The default PW = password You can now change the default admin password and configure the wireless settings. Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access. Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
Hello.
Do you need the wireless password or the router login password?
If you needwireless
password(security key like WEP or WPA)or you would like to setup
wireless security for your Netgear router, access the router setup page by
typinghttp://www.routerlogin.netorhttp://192.168.1.1(sometimes it's http://192.168.0.1) in the address field of
your browser and then press Enter. Enteradminfor the router user name and your password (or the default, password).
This image is the login window to access the router's setup page.
After logging in. Look at the main menu
on the left, click onWireless Settings, from there you
can check theWireless Key(For WEP you need Key 1,2,3 or 4 whichever is selected... For WPA you need passphrase)or you can setup
wireless security from there if you haven't done so.
This image is the router's
setup page and this is where you can configure the router and check some
settings like Wireless security or password.
**If by chance you are unable to access
the router's login or setup page by using the default username &password(admin, password) and you totally
have forgotten it, you need to reset the router to factory or default settings
then you have to setup the router again.
**To reset the router to default settings:1. Unplug all the cables attached to
it except the power cord.- Make sure the
router is plugged into the power outlet, then hold down the reset button at the
back of the router for 30 seconds using a paper clip or a pen. You should see
the lights flicker momentarily on the front panel of the router.
2. Once the lights are stable, connect 1 computer or laptop directly to the
back of the router(Ethernet/LAN ports usually they are labelled by numbers and
have the same color, just pick one). If you pick number 1, check the
corresponding light indicator at the front panel of the router, make sure light
1 is also lit up if not choose another port at the back of the router.3. Setup
and configure the router again.
You will need to access the router (via its local web address using a suitable web browser) Once you have provided the login information, surf to the wireless security section and either document the WEP key (if not encrypted) or change it. Understand that changing the WEP key will invalidate any else's access, so be sure to share the change. The WEP key may have to be done in HEX, meaning that it must be done with the numerals 0-9 and ONLY the letters A-F. The ket must also be a specific length, usually 13 or 26 characters depending on the requirements of the router.
enter admin for username and password for password. Once logged in, click Wireles settings on the left panel.
You will see Security option, this should show WEP if the router is really using WEP, then you will see key 1,2,3,4 boxes underneath, whichever is selected and has the series of characters, that series of characters is youe WEP key. Make sure not change any settings as it will affect other wireless devices currently connected.
your Wep Key is set up in your router, you have a netgear your netgears IP address default gateway is 192.168.2.1. Username: admin Password: password this should get you into your router look for security this will give you information to what your wep key is.
from router with ethernet to computer.....then open up your web browser
and type in the address bar 192.168.0.1, a pop down login appears
user/login= admin, and password- password. click okay. now you should
be looking at the netgear config page. there is a button or tab you
can click on that says wireless settings, so click it......first is the
SSID which probably says wireless or netgear in it.....put in a name
you will recognize when searching for your wireless
connection......this is the Name of your wireless connection....
then scroll down to wep 64 bit encryption and select it. next, scroll
down to key1 and type in a ten digit code (area code and phone number
usually works great). leave the passphrase box above key 1 blank.
once you have your code typed in scroll down to the bottom where it
says apply and click the apply button. now , you need to double check
that the netgear saved your new settings, so once the apply click
refreshes the page scroll down and make sure its still there,,,,if not
write down what the netgear replaced it with. once doublecheck is
complete no need to apply again , just close your browser. then remove
the ethernet cable, go down by the clock and right click your wireless
network icon to view availbel wireless networks,,,, you then should be
able to find Your SSID name and click it to then type the encryption in
and now your surfing.

Which one? The login password to the router (admin/password) is changed under MAINTENANCE Set Password.
The Wireless password is changed under SETUP Wireless Settings.
In that one, if you're using WEP, you get to see the 10 or 26 HEX character key. Be sure to read the Wireless help screen on the right side of the page.
Connect to the router with an ethernet cable. Open your web browser and type in 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (It's one of those I'm sure)
The router will ask you for the login and password. Unless they have been changed they will be admin and password.
Look down the left hand side of the page and you should see a link to the wireless set-up section. The WEP settings will all be there.
