Plug torque is not critical. Best way to tighten them is to run them in finger tight to make sure the they are not cross threaded, then tighten enough that you feel the gasket crush. (plug bottomed and just a bit more).
It is essential that you use anti-seize compound on the threads. That will prevent the plugs from seizing into the heads and snapping or tearing the threads out when removing the next time.

I have a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 5 speed the number 2 cylinder keeps blowing the spark plug out of the hole what would cause that and how to fix it?

The spark plug should not come out if it is the proper application spark plug with the correct torque. Sounds as if the plug hole may have damaged/stripped threads which can lead to a costly repair. There is an alternative repair for this without removing the cylinder head. A Heli-coil can be installed into the damaged plug hole. If installed correctly, this repair can last the life of the vehicle at a fraction of the cost

How do I replace the spark plugs?

This requires a certain amount of mechanical skills and knowledge of how to use a torque wrench properly. To begin the process know that the spark plugs are recessed deep in the valve cover. Follow the high tension 8mm wires from their individual coil-paks directly to the respective plug and carefully remove. Now using a 5/ 8" deep well plug socket and an 8-10 extension carefully remove the plugs. Install new plugs (spec per mfg.) I like the iridium then platinum, but check to ensure gap is correct before installing the new plugs. Now take plug and insert into plug socket then carefully lower into recess until you contact threads lightly. Rotate plug clockwise with very little pressure keeping plug socket 90 degrees until you get proper thread engagement. Continue installation of each plug then torque to spec, and reinstall all wires.

CHANGING SPARK PLUGS. WHAT IS CORRECT GAP? WHAT IS

To change plugs you need to remove the coil first. This engine has a coil for each plug. The plug is way down in the head. Use a deep well socket and an extension to remove the plug.Blow out the area around the plug with an air compressor before you remove the plug to keep debris out of the engine. The plug gap is .052 to .056 and the torque spec is 15 pound feet or 177 pound inches. Use some anti-seize on the plugs

How to replace sparl plugs on a Jeep Cherokee?

Hello, I hope this info helps...(subytech1)...REMOVAL
In this engine, each individual spark plug is located under each ignition coil.

  1. Prior to removing spark plug, spray compressed air around base ofignition coil at cylinder head. This will help prevent foreign materialfrom entering combustion chamber.
  2. On this engine each individual ignition coil must be removedto gain access to each spark plug. Refer to Ignition CoilRemoval/Installation.
  3. Check condition of coil O-ring and replace as necessary.
  1. Inspect spark plug condition. Refer to Spark Plug Conditions.
CLEANING
Theplugs may be cleaned using commercially available spark plug cleaningequipment. After cleaning, file center electrode flat with a smallpoint file or jewelers file before adjusting gap.

CAUTION: Never use a motorized wire wheel brush to clean sparkplugs. Metallic deposits will remain on spark plug insulator and willcause plug misfire.

ADJUSTMENT

Setting Spark Plug Gap - Typical
Check spark plug gap with a gap gauge tool. If the gap is not correct, adjust it by bending ground electrode. Never attempt to adjust gap bybending center electrode.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: This engine is equipped with copper core groundelectrode spark plugs. They must be replaced with the same type/numberspark plug as the original. If another spark plug is substituted,pre-ignition will result.

Special care should be taken when installing spark plugs into cylinderhead spark plug wells. Be sure plugs do not drop into plug wells asground straps may be bent resulting in a change in plug gap, orelectrodes can be damaged.

Always tighten spark plugs to specified torque. Over tightening cancause distortion resulting in a change in spark plug gap or a crackedporcelain insulator.

  1. Start spark plug into cylinder head by hand to avoid cross threading.
  2. Tighten spark plugs to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque.
  3. Before installing coil(s), check condition of coil O-ring andreplace as necessary. To aid in coil installation, apply silicone tocoil O-ring.
  4. Install ignition coil(s). Refer to Ignition Coil Removal/Installation.
