Ok, the circuit board in it is bad so the opening mechanism. Sorry, but it is time to get a new one. You can find great deals online (personally I use newegg.com) for around 25 to 30 dollars on a decent dvd/cd combo. You should check the motherboard connectors and see if you can upgrade to something SATA instead of current PATA connector. Good luck.

How do I remove the back of my Gateway ZX6971-UR30P. I have a cd stuck in the disc drive and the door won't open.

Have you tried to use a straightened out paper clip to eject the disc. You should see a small hole next to the eject button on the disc drive, just push the paper clip in that and the drive door should open.

Disc draw will not open

Manually eject the disc tray
  1. Disconnect the power cord and any other cables connected to the console.

  2. Uncoil a paper clip.

  3. Position the console horizontally, as you would position a DVD player.
  4. Find the yellow sticker behind the vents on the left side of the console.
  5. Insert the straight end of the paper clip into the eject hole which is located just above the yellow sticker (as shown in the picture below).

  6. The disc tray should pop out slightly. Pull the tray out the rest of the way with your fingers.

Note If a disc is in the tray, make sure that it is not sticky and does not have a label that might prevent the tray from opening again in the future.

  4. If you're successful, the disc tray will pop out slightly. Pull the tray out the rest of the way with your fingers and skip to step 9. If the disc tray does not open, try the next step.
  5. Find the two holes below the left side of the disc drive, and insert the paper clip into the first hole on the left.

  8. If the disc drive is still stuck closed, insert the paper clip into the adjacent hole (to the right) and push again. If you're successful, the disc tray will pop out slightly.
  9. Now plug the power cord into the back of the console. Press the eject button to open and close disc drive. If the disc drive works properly, reattach the console faceplate.

Note If a disc is in the tray, make sure that it is not sticky and does not have a label that might prevent the tray from opening again in the future.

I am not sure what plugs to plug into the compact disc, dvd ram/r, floppy disc, and hard drive. Had a computer wiz change plugs around, now my compact disc won't play any disc, and I have no sound on...

disk drives usually have two main plugs, one for power and the other is a multplug for system communication. power is small with only one connecter. the other multi connecters in the plug. they only fit one way in drives. Just match them up. Power/multi are linked in pairs so that you know which go to any one drive. there are at least two pairs in a desktop. if its a laptop only one pair and you have to take it apart to get at wiring. Desktop, just open case panel to access inside.

We have a computer model T3092. The compact disc section wont pen and it has a cd stuck in there. How to open?

Hello,

Look closely at the front of the drive. There is a small hole, usually right under the slot door. Get a paper clip and unroll it. Push the paper clip straight through the hole. You should be able to feel it when it releases the catch on the drive door.

Hope this helps.
