Rifles will often have cycling problems if not properly cleaned on a regular basis. I have attached a link to a browning a bolt rifle it will show you how to remove the bolt for proper cleaning.

My shotgun is not ejecting the shell-

If what you are saying the empty Shell is still in the open ejection area and another is trying to push in..if so your ejected is either worn or has gunk built up around it or your chamber is dirty and causing the just fired shell to stick momentarily...try firing and eject an empty shell without another feeding in and see if it clearly and quickly ejects the empty..if not it is the ejector or dirty chamber the new steel is spring fed so it should not be the poblem ..you can try another spring and see what happens. My bet is a worn or dirty ejector..or a long shot it may be the shells expanding too much do to age damp etc try different ones..good luck..

Mossberg 817 magazine

Not much can go wrong. Have you checked your extractor? If it's intact and not broken, try moving it with your thumbnail. Is it loose? That's a spring problem. If it's tight and intact, WITH THE BOLT OUT, try slipping a small diam wooden dowel down the barrel to see how hard it is to push a spent shell out. If it's tight, you've got a burr in the chamber or dirt/varnish buildup. Examine the shell for scratches. If the shell's good and no scratches, clean the chamber with a brass brush mounted in a drill.

After firing it will not eject the empty shell

Eject or extract it from the chamber. There are two different systems.

Mossberg 500, shell will not eject

did you check the elevator to make sure its not applying the pressure on the cartridge interrupter and cartridge stop? or that one or both aren't damaged and over bent. the ejector slot on the bolt isn't damaged, or the action slide bars.

Remington 1100 wont eject or load another shell

check and see if the shell stop hasn't broken loose. this on the inside left side of the action . this could stopping the next shell in the mag. from being loaded. this not uncommon. but is an easy fix. a gun smith can stake it back in . in a few minutes for around $20.00

New 870 express is not cycling low base shells properly

When it stove pipes, does the empty get caught by the next live round coming up on the carrier?

Try firing one round in the chamber and none in the mag and pump like normal.

If it fires and ejects the empty with no ammo in the mag the ejection system is probably fine.

If when you shoot with one in the chamber one in the magazine and it stove pipes you may have a timing problem. The cartridge stop is letting the next shell come into position and start coming up on the carrier to early. This may be fixed by moving the ramp on the action bar so as to get ejection farther along before the next shell is released to the carrier.

Caution, if the cartridge stops are ok and the carrier is coming up to early it is another issue altogether and needs to be looked at by a smith.

Powder actuated tool wont fire. I think the firing pin is stuck

is this the one you hit with a hammer? if so check to see if the firing pin is hitting the shell rim at all, if it is sometimes you just have to hit it harder, and make sure your holding the shell in position with down pressure on the handle. if it is the gun model then make sure that the safety lever is is reaching the trip mechanism when you are holding it down making ready to fire.
