Does the chuck unscrew?? If so what you need to do is tighten the chuck again and look for the chuck retaining screw that locks it into place, you should be able to buy one at any local tool repair center. they are left hand thread. if the jaws are releasing then the chuck might have to be replaced. Let me know if I misunderstood the problem and I will try again.

Hi I have the makita bh2 18v hammer drill and the chuck is stuck open is there a way of threeing it,

Squirt a little release oil(WD40 type) on the other part of the jaws and the inner of the chuck.then push the forward /reverse switch to the Arrow pointing forward(toward the chuck) then holding the chuck with the drill in No1 speed gentle pull the trigger until the jaws release and move all the way to fully closed. After this the drill should work properly.

How do I take a bit out?

It is a keyless chuck. Put the drill in reverse (chuck should spin to the left when viewed from the back) and hold the main body area of the chuck with your hand while slowly running the drill. The chuck will open (unless it is broke) and release the bit. You do the opposite (slowing running the drill in forward) for tightening a bit in the chuck.

How do you release the bits to change sizes

It is a keyless chuck. You should be able to grab the main body of the chuck and turn it to the left to release the bit. You can also hold the main body of the chuck and run the tool slowly in reverse whcih will also release the bit.

Cannot get the chuck to release the bit it is a dewalt and yes I am in reverse

On some of the DeWalt drills I have owned with keyless chucks, the chuck has a locking mechanism.
You have to grip the chuck and slide the outer sleeve forward to release the lock, then you can tighten or loosen the chuck.

How do you work the keyless chuck on the 6.5 amp 3/8" rear handle pro drill?

Most drills with the keyless chuck work this way. Put the drill into reverse. Grasp the chuck with your left hand, and then pull the switch slowly. This should release the chuck. If your drill has no reverse, then grasp the chuck again with your left hand and hold the drill with your right hand. Turn the chuck with your left hand quickly, this should release the drill as well.

HOW DO I PUT THE QUICK RELEASE CHUCK ON A BOSCH HAMMER 11236VS?

I don't know that drill in detail but in general chucks for this type of machine are removed by pulling back the plastic ring behind the chuck and pulling the chuck out. So hold the drill with the chuck facing away fron you and grip the plastic ring behind the chuck (nearest you). Pull this toward you and pull the chuck away from you. Replacing a chuck is the reverse.

Keyless chuck is stuck with bit inside I can't turn it counter clockwise to unlock I have a Makita 6349d drill

Try two channel lock pliers.
Hold the bit close the the base with one.
Take the other (cloth comes in handy here to prevent marring) and turn the chuck counter clockwise to release.

Alternative (little WD40 on the chuck)
One channel lock plier hold the chuck and put the drill in reverse.
The WD40 should allow the chuck to release easier.

Good luck!

Chuck will not release bit

Hi,

the Chuck should be 2 Part.

Use 2 pair of stillsons Or pipe wrenches, Tight On the 2 Chuck Parts, Crack in opposite Directions.

Alternative, Use Wrench On Chuck Jaw, Short sharp Blow With Hammer.
