if that cd have installation setup and ask to install,let it..or upgrade ur player

There are two possibilities. Maybe drivers does not support the operating system, or maybe the wrong drivers installed.

Solutions for possibilities drivers do not support OS
1. Download drivers from Canon Support & Download
2. Select Product category = Multifunctional Inkjet Printers
3. Product series = Pixma
4. Model = Pixma MP258
5. Document type = Drivers & Softwares, then click Find
6. Select OS = Example; Linux

How to install the the printer driver
Install the printer driver, then connect the USB to the computer. If the USB cable is plugged into the computer, then install the new driver, happens is the failure of drivers install process.

Solution to fix the drivers install error
1. Unplug the USB cable from the printer, to the computer.
2. Uninstall all software and drivers are already installed, then restart the computer.
3. Insert the Driver CD, do the install process. About a 90% of the install process, it would come the request "connect the printer to the computer".
4. Connect the USB cable, with a computer.
5. The computer will detect the printer, and install process will continue until completed. After the install is complete, the printer is ready to use.

if your using a HP computer than you wont be able to install the OS installed on your computer.. You can't install any hard disk from any computer and install it into your computer and expect it to work unless it came from the same model computer with the same devices that are installed on your computer.
When Windows is installed it configures the operating system unique to that computer and stores this info in the Windows registry.
To get a used hard disk to work in your computer, you have to install Windows as a fresh installation on your computer.

please tell me the model of your computer, so that i can find driver for that device.

However, if you have CD/DVD utilities enclosed in the computer from the vendor then install that utilities. you should install the chipset, VGA, audio and other necessary drivers. (please install that in series to avoid errors on the computer.
