DVD player not working

We were watching DVDs on my TruTech TV with built in DVD player and I opened it to switch discs. When I closed it again (with the disc in it) the player said it was loading the disc, but the disc was not spinning and never started to spin! HELP

  • Anonymous Apr 14, 2008

    I put DVD in player and the screen saver comes up and says loading, but the DVD will not play. I have unplugged the unit, but that didn't help.

It could be that the DVD player has a bad home switch in the dvd player or that it doesn't know that the door is closed. I have run into similar situations with CD Players years ago. Also keep in mind to unplug unit and let sit for 1 minute to let microprocessor reset. Let me know if that helps. Thank you ...Jay

I bought some DVDs at amazon.com, but I live outside the region code area witch the DVDs are supposed to work. I live in code area 4. I need someone to find a code to region 1. I have a Phillips home...

Hi there,

This player is relatively easy to change to region free. Please complete all of the steps below to unlock your DVD player.

Please note: Unlocking any DVD player may invalidate the warranty. Unlock sequences may not work with some firmware updates and some DVD players have been damaged through failed attempts to unlock them. Unlocking your DVD player is done at your own risk.

Unlock sequence for the Philips DVP 3020:

1. Switch on your TV and DVD player;

2. Make sure the TV is set to the correct input for the DVD player;
3. Remove any disc from the DVD player and close the disc tray;
4. Press the "SETUP" button on the DVD player remote control;
5. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys to highlight "PREFERENCE";
6. Enter 1 3 8 9 3 1 using the numerical keys on the Philips DVD remote control;

A pop-up menu will appear on the TV screen.

7. Use the UP/DOWN arrow key and choose "0" for all regions;

That's it. You should now be able to watch DVDs from all regions on your player. It is also a good idea to switch the player to standby and then switch it back on before trying any discs.

This is a verified unlock sequence for the Philips DVP 3020. If it doesn't work the first time, switch the power off and start again at step 1. If it still doesn't work, it is likely that you have updated your Firmware to a new version and this unlock sequence does not work with your firmware version

If you need further assistance, please reply to me from within this page and let me know which firmware version you have installed in your DVD player.

Regards,
BElectric.

DVD PLAYER PROBLEM

Sounds like a common problem with this trutech brand. There are some possibilities. 1. Laser could be worn out, 2 it could be a bad cable coming from the laser. 3 The home switch for the laser to come all the way back to its "HOME" position could be bad. But usually if this is the case, the disc won't spin at all. And 4th, the spindle motor that spins the disc could be worn out. Causing the disc not to spin fast enough and thus causing an error. Let me know if you want to send me one of these anyone so as i can trouble shoot the problem further. Keep me posted and i hope this helps you out some. Thank you Jay
