I have a GE DSXH47EG0WW dryer and clothing is getting caught along the edge between 2 parts of the drum. This is causing fabric to tear. Any way to stop this from happening?

Making thumping noise and burning clothes

You list no brand or model so an answer must be somewhat vague. A loose drum causes the noise described while it also allows air to leak from outside the normal air flow path causing erratic high/low temperatures contributing to burning. Sometimes clothes can also get caught in the gaps caused by the tub moving excessively which causes tears, pinches and rips in clothing. Most dryers will have rollers and/or glides to carry the weight at the front of the drum. Check to determine if these are worn, loose or broken. A few models carry all the weight at the rear of the drum (Frigidaire and some GE) so check the rear bearing for excess wear and replace as needed. It's always a good idea to also clean debris and lint from inside the cabinet while the dryer is disassembled for repairs.

When I take my clothes out of the dryer some of them have blackish marks on them please help thanks

Make sure the drum is properly seated. If the drum sags, clothes can get caught in the gap on the bottom, then pinched when the gap closes on the top. This can cause grease stains on the clothes, or worse, can tear them.

If the drum sags, check the drive belt and drum support rollers.

drum rollers/glides, may be that the motor needs to be oiled, in which case you will need to unplug dryer and drill a hole in the casing not to deep just to where it goes through the casing, then moisten the cotton fabric. Hope this helps Tim:

Keep getting snags on sheer fabric clothes, what is it? Anyone with this problem?

If you are certain that the dryer is causing snags in delicates, check the drum for a foreign object (paper clips, safety pins, etc.,) that might be lodged in the drum. A loose screw or loose drum agitator (paddle) might cause this problem.

Sometimes a bad bearing or drum slide will cause a misalignment between the drum and the stationary part of the dryer's interior. This misalignment will pinch clothes and cause tears or black streaks.

I would suggest replacing the front drum bearing. Sounds like the gap is now excessive, obviously allowing clothes to get caught up in there. Drum must be removed from the dryer to do this.
Good luck, hope this helps.

Your drum seal between the drum and the body of the dryer needs replacement, this is what causes the clothes to stick and tear holes in them.
I hope this helps

GE DSXH436V1WW heavy duty large cloths get caught

This dryer doesn't have rollers at the front of the drum, it uses a felt rub strip between the drum and the front cover. You'll need to replace the rub strip. It's easy to do but you'll need to get the special high-temp adhesive.
