Panasonic PT-LC56E projector

We have started to experience red ghosting mostly around the bottom right hand side of the whiteboard / screen. Is this a limp problem? One of the projectors is only showing 76 hours runtime on it current bulb. Or is the fault to do with the internal coloured filters.

We have had to replace the said filters in the past on a Philips projector, due to a grey central circle on the whiteboard / screen.

Do you have any idea what can be done it rectify this problem.

Regards Ian

That projector has not been made for some time (7-9 years I believe) so there are probably several thousand hours on the projector, and at about 2500 to 3000 hours your panels start to fail,, sounds like the LCD panels are warping, and you are loosing convergence.

that projector would cost about $500.00 to replace with a newer brighter unit, with a new warranty.

but the "E" means this unit is for europe only, so your prices may vary

I need to reset my lamp counter on my projector pt-lc56e but i dont know how please help me

After changing the lamp you should be able to turn on the projector and it should run for approx. 10 minutes, allowing enough time to reset the lamp counter. Hit "Menu", select "Option 2", hit enter, which will bring up "Lamp Runtime", press and hold enter button approx. 3 seconds. The selection will change to "Time Reset (Power Off)". Turn off the power and it will reset.

Rear projection - convex distortion / ghosting / expanding screen

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

I have a Panasonic PT-53WX54J that will not Converge

you need to replace or have professional convergence amplifiiers. If know how to desolder and solder you could repair yourself or in home professional tv repairperson will cost you $275-$400. The convergence adjustments via remote are half the battle the IC's loose clarity over time.

I have a Panasonic LCD projector ( PT-AE700U) - I have had it for 4 years. Recently, I noticed it was projecting "blue" pixels on the bottom right hand side (small size maybe 3 x 8 inches) . Over the past...

your color calibration may be off. see if you can set the red green and blue settings all to "0" and see if that works. may want to refer to your manual and see how you can do that and also see if there is a auto calibration

HItach cp-s860 problem

I have the same Hitachi CP-S860 and have found the problem is with the convergence on the left and right sides of the picture. The one I am working on has a bad ghosting problem also - you can really see the ghosting when the MENU is on the screen. The center convergence is OK. Following Pics show Circle / Cross pattern - 1st pic the red, green and blue are turned on - 2nd pic shows green and blue on only. I do not have the service manual for this set so I do not know the convergence procedure on this one. I have mostly been repairing NEC, Sanyo, Panasonic and Christie LCD & DLP Projectors.
