My lenovo ThinkPad T500 is losing power. Happens

and last.
tell it what PC this is,
T500
and click documents
T-SERIES THINKPAD.
NO T500 IN USA, T520 YES.
IT IS OLD CORE2 CPU, 2008 IS YEAR MADE THIS PC, SO 14 YEARS OLD NOW.
SO MAKER ENDED SUPPORT ON THIS OLD THING
OR IS NOT SOLD IN USA. (i guess former is true)

Reset could mean one of several things. I assume you know how to simply reboot it. If it is hung you can hold the power button down for about 6 seconds to turn it off.

If you forgot the password, contact Lenovo support at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/
Provide them with proof of purchase and original receipt to prove ownership of laptop.

If you want to restore factory defaults then installed on the ThinkPad T500 is a program called Rescue and Recovery, which helps you diagnose and fix problems with the Windows operating system. To access this software, reboot your T500 and press the oval-shaped blue ThinkVantage button -- located on the upper-left area of your keyboard -- when the ThinkPad logo appears. When the Rescue and Recovery menu appears, choose the option that describes what you want to do. Follow the directions on the screen to run the appropriate action.

this is the hardware maintenance manual, look on page 87 (or 96 if all pages count) for detailed info on accessing the fan assembly. its tricky work, if you lack of skills on dissembling better bring it to a service center.

possible that motherboard is already defective, you can contact this # 1-800-426-7378.

1. Shutdown laptop.
2. Remove battery, other external peripherals connected, disconnect from ac adapter.
3. Press and hold power button for 10 seconds to drain power.
4. Restart laptop.
   

remove the power supply and battery then remove the memory module, clean the memory gold contacts. a regular pencil eraser will do. return the memory then the battery.

The Power on password is stored on an EEPROM chip and removing the BIOS battery will not remove this power on password.
