I really can't see how it would be a cable problem, at this point. It worked so well prior to this problem with the cables set up the way they are. Any other ideas??? thanks MikeI really can't see how it would be a cable problem, at this point. It worked so well prior to this problem with the cables set up the way they are. If you have p scan you need red green blue cables to the tv and both need to be set up to do p scan, it sounds like you have p scan but its not cabled correctly.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. https://elektrotricks.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.
Hi,my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. Its going in to protection standby mode. Something in the high voltage is shutting it down. Try to unplug it , wait 30 minutes and try it again. Thanks for Choosing FixYa....John
My T.V. wouldn't turn on. The standby light was flashing six times,
then four, then seven...I called Sony and they told me to unplug it for a
couple of minutes, then try it again...didn't work....BUT, I have found
a solution:
Try unpluging your T.V. for 4 hours+, then turn it back on. Worked for
me! It's called a "hard reset" by sony. I had my T.V. unplugged for
the whole day though.
After I unplug and then plug tv to reset I get a solid standby light, then when I push the power button I get a green light that blinks 6 times then it blinks red 6 times and then red 6 times continuosly with a slight delay between the 6 blinks of red.
The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes three times If your power/standby indicator is flashing in a pattern of three flashes, this may indicates that the lamp cover is not attached securely. Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.
The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes continously If your power/standby indicator is flashing continuously, and the lamp cover has been secured, your TV may be in need of service.
The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up green (not flashing) A sustained green light indicates your TV is on.
The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up red (not flashing) A sustained red light from your power/standby indicator simply indicates that your TV is in standby mode. This shows you that your TV is ready to be turned on with the remote.
Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
I have the same issue. Here's a temporary solution, which is what I've been doing for the last couple of weeks, unplug the unit from the wall, just long enough for the red standby light to go out, then plug the unit back up. as soon that the red standby light comes on, press the on button the the remote or the unit. You may have to do this couple of time before it works. Somedays it works on the first try for me and then somedays I have to do it 3 to 4 time. I sure that at some point this will stop working too.
same problm as miker9's. i've taken it apart and used air to clean out components. nothing! any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
