Solution: open front blue magnetic case door, look on either side of the power button, there are finger holes in the other blue cover.
lift out from bottom to top. this cover comes off, not the whole
case. inside find tabs next to cd drive, squeeze and pull out. note: the side sliders were they come out, they will come off the
cd drive when removed. it is easier to replace the top drive by removing the bottom drive, put in the top half way, then put bottom back in half way and slide them in together.

See if it would play regular cd, then see if it would play dvd's. The reason is because most gaming cd now and days are dvd's and maybe your dvd-rom has a driver issue or the laser head isn't reading it. So try that first, then see if the drivers for the cd/dvd rom is working properly in the device manager. It may need a dvd coded software, try installing like powerdvd or something. If it still ain't working, and it can't play dvd's then your cd-drive could be history
you may need to replace your cd-rom drive, you can try buying a new cd-rom drive for around 30-40$ which also will mean you'll have a DVD-rom instead of cd-rom.
trying to install windows xp it don't see my cd-rom or dvd.
my cd is not working and i need to replace it.
how does the front cover come off? Seems like it is glued on and without the front coming off - one can't remove the CD drives, or any other drive.
