Try removing the bottom most memory card and rebooting. I've had three units that the lower memory slot caused this problem. Good luck.

Unplug the unit from the AC adapter, remove the battery from the bottom of the unit. Wait about 2 minutes. Reinstall the battery and plug in the ac adapter.

hole unit needs replaced junk yard cheeper then new not hard to replace

why not buy the correct power pack
matching the power needs of you puter.
each puter needs a watts level, do that or more never less.
only hp.com spec tells you what you need,

Your battery is dead. You need to get a new power adapter. The battery isn't charging. The AC adapter went south. If the laptop is under warranty, you can get one from Compaq. Or, what I would do is shop on the internet and order one. Whats the numbers on the ac adapter? I'll help you find one.
