The mouse of my T60 freeze right after boot. I suspect that it was some kind of virus. I tried to "restore to factory default" os. However, the mouse is always freeze just before I select "restore system" in the restore process. I tried to boot in safe mode, but the mouse freeze just before I can login. I would like to restore the system to the factory default. Is there a way to do it without using mouse? How can I tell that this is a hardware problem or virus attack?

Have you tried using the keys on the keyboard? The arrow keys and such, ALT+TAB switches between open applications, TAB changes your position, it takes practice to use the computer without a mouse but its pretty simple once you get it.

If your computer stops responding completely, then its not a mouse problem, you most likely have a hardware problem.

Have you tried a external mouse?

Acer media all in one wont go past acer screen

does it show the post screen. That screen would show the load process for the hard drive, cd-rom, keyboard, mouse and so on. If it does try to get into the BIOS and check to see if you can reset it to the factory defaults. If it won't let you into the BIOS and it just freezes there you more than likely have the I LOVE YOU virus and you will need a new mainboard because that virus destroys the BIOS. Once you have a new mainboard you can not allow the hard drive to boot you need to run the restore soft ware or the virus will hit it again because the virus is still on the hard drive and if it boots it will activate again. If you do let your hard drive boot and it happens again you will have to pay for another main board because the company isn't responsible for the virus destroying the the main board again.

Hi I have a HP dv5-1004AX which is a little over 2 years and it had not been working since Nov due to start up freezing problems. Recently with the help of a friend who gave instructions over the phone -...

During reboot you can try pushing F8 repeatedly as soon as you power on. This takes you to the Windows startup menu on versions XP thru 7 operating systems. Select safe mode and press enter. Your computer should boot up in a special mode that protects it from damage to the OS. You can now try to restore your computer to an earlier condition. If this fails you can try restoring your computer to the factory default settings in your BIOS. To do this restart your computer holding F2 key. Using the right arrow key move to the last tab and select restore settings to factory defaults. Make sure that you save your settings before youi exit. After exiting your computer will restart on its own. (Dont turn it off while in BIOS and make sure that it's plugged in anytime you are making changes) I hope this helps.

Hi,
I do have a T60 as well!, love it! and the only way to restore as from factory is to install a fresh copy of the OS of choice (if original disk are not available) then, go to IBM.com or lenovo.com and download the drivers that belongs to your pc. I hope that this answered your question!, Good Luck!.

Hi can any 1 tell me how to restore factory settings for a dell inspiron1012 note book, it keeps freezing crashes and gets viruses

Intro
This small tip will cover the main steps , to restore your Dell laptop to factory settings. Depending on the model you possess , the manipulations may be slightly different , so feel free to add any information you think may be useful to this FAQ.
Steps
Restore the Computer to the Default Factory Configuration

Notice:
When you restore the computer to the default factory configuration, all data on the C drive is deleted. Before performing this procedure, back up personal files. If you do not back up personal files, the data is lost.
  • 1. Restart the computer. To do this, click Start, click the arrow next to the Lock button, and then click Restart.
  • 2. As the computer restarts, press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

Note:
You must press F8 before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If you press F8 after the Windows logo appears, the Advanced Boot Options menu does not appear on the screen. If you do not see the Advanced Boot Options menu, restart the computer, and then repeat this step until you see the menu on the screen.

Good Luck (please don't post in all CAPITAL LETTERS next time)
  • 3. Press the (Down Arrow) to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press Enter.

  • 4. Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.
  • 5. Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.
  • 6. Click Dell Factory Image Restore.
  • 7. In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.
  • 8. Click to select the check box for Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition.
  • 9. Click Next. The computer is restored to the default factory configuration.
  • 10. When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.
