Rear disc brakes are different than the front, the piston has to be turned in with a special tool, you should see slots or holes on the surface of the piston, that's where the tool fits in to turn them in.

The rear caliper piston, turns in,with slight pressure on it,one side will turn right handed,to retract, and the other side will turn left handed to retract, the auto parts store sells the tool to do this with,it is a square tool, for sides, with different combinations of pins that will fit the caliper piston for your cadilac. The tool fits on a 3/8 ratchet,I hope this helps you, thank you.

Seized rear tire

On these JR bodies, and the earlier JA bodies, I have found that the rubber flexible brake hose to the wheels can collapse internally. This will cause the wheel to drag, and the brakes to smoke. If cracking-open the bleeder screw on that wheel frees it up, then you have found the solution. I have also seen the clamp on this hose rust, and actually "pinch-off" the brake line.

How do you depress the rear caliper on an 07 malibu when changing the pads

The best way to do it is to open the brake bleeder valve on that wheel, get a

large C clamp that you can put on the caliper and as you tighten, the caliper

will start to collapse, once collapsed close the bleeder valve, take off the brakes.

good luck!

I am trying to calapse the rear brake calliper on my dodge Journey and can't seem to get it to go. Does it screw in?

They are usually impossible to collapse by hand. If you have a C clamp around collapse it with that.

Rear pisttons on ford 500 will not push in to install rear brake pads

If you have disk brakes, and you cannot fit the new brake pads in the callipers? Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap to allow pressure to escape. Use a large C clamp connecting it to the front and back of the piston. Turn the screw on the clamp to compress the brake piston then release the clamp. The piston will remain compressed allowing you the fit the housing over the new brake pads.

2002 chevy impala ls

sometimes you need to crack the bleeder to release the pressure on the cylinder just a thought and I have had to do that myself on other vehicles before. What you can also try is tapping around the edge of the booster sofly as you apply more pressure to the c clamp it might just shock it free. My opinion also would be to get a new brake booster as if it is seezed you are most likel;y going to have a problem later on down the road and brakes and brake parts are cheap human lives arent good luck
