It seems to be that Webcam Drivers are not installed in your computer. Install the webcam drivers and then you can notice the webcam icon in the Control Panel --> "Scanners and Camera" wizard.

Go to control panel_device Manager and locate the webcam listed there in the hardware section. Simply right click and ask it to remove driver for 500. Next attach the new web cam and only update the driver if asked for when PC starts up
Skype automatically detects the Web-cam only if it works already well with windows. So go to my computer> see if its listed in the scanners and Cameras devices.
If not listed, then you shall need the drivers for it in order to work in windows.
You can only use the webcam with one device at a time? If you are sure the webcam is working properly shut down the software specifically for your webcam.
Log into Skype as normal.
