I just purchased this used they had no history of the turntable. The power is on and the 33 record is spinning but the arm stays in the same spot on the turntable and no sound is coming through the...

The stylus could be as flat as a pancake. So will not fit into the grooves. If you unplug the wires to the cartridge and with the unit connected to your amp and that on power, touch with your finger each of the wires one at a time. You should hear a buzz one on the left and one on the right from two of the wires. If you do that shows that sound will get into your amp. If that's okay I would then buy a new stylus and cartridge. It doesn't have to be the same as the one you have. As long as it will fit on to the headshell.

Ion turntable

It sounds like you have not mounted the cartridge right to the headshell. There should be some screws that hold it on. Adjust the cartridge so it looks right to the eye and is not going to catch anything.
The counterweight should then be set to that recommended for that make of cartridge. If you don't have the information, look up the cartridge online. The make and model number should be on it somewhere.

Stanton turntable: STR8-30 need to find out where i can buy replacement stylus please help

You look at the cartridge, determine its make/model number if visible and web search for that with 'replacement stylus'. There is no way we can tell what is installed on it.

Trouble with cartridge alignment

Hi, i was going to suggest a dedicated cartridge weiging scales but the one one the arm should suffice.
Normally it should be between 1.5 and 2 grams, as a ball park figure , though some will vary quite considerably.I think this can take upto 5 grams( a bit heavy really)
Looking at the picture, it looks like the stylus cantilever has colapsed, by someone dropping the cartidge onto the record.
If you think the alignment is out then you neded to buy a Cartidge allignment protractor, so you can setup your cartidge properly and don't ruin your records.
You could try and loosed the cartridge bols and move the cartridge so its parallel with the front of the head shell.

Are you using it for DJ use or just for listening to music?

I have just found on ebay, this -

If you need more help, please ask.

Missing Parts

You need a headshell unit (which is needle etc for the front of arm)
also the felt pad.. also known as a slipmat, you can pick up at dj supplies shops or on ebay..
I need a counterweight myself as my ION turntable also had missing parts when I got it as a gift.
I found a headshell on ebay which is perfect...Turntable Cartridge and Headshell Black DJ DISCO USB on eBay (end time 08-Sep-09 00:11:01 BST)
I havent yet found a counterweight..I hope I will!
Hope this helps in some way..

Magnavox Stylus

We need to know the model number of the CARTRIDGE itself. Doesn't matter what turntable you have. All that matters is what cartridge is mounted on the turntable, so that we can match the correct stylus. The stylus/needle connects to the Cartridge:

As the diagram shows, the stylus mounts to the cartridge, which then mounts to the headshell. This headshell is then connected to the tonearm (tube).

So, if you look at the cartridge you should be able to see the model number. If not, there is no way to match up the stylus, as ther are literally THOUSANDS of styli on the market. I would suggest purchasing a NEW cartridge/stylus combination. The following should fit your model:
