I have a red streak that goes across my televison. Sometimes if I turn it on and off a bunch of times it goes away for about 5 minutes them comes back. The television is only 5 years old. But I don't want to spend too much on getting it fixed. Any suggestions would be great help.
Problem is with the voltage setting on the red gun... remove the front panel, there are four screws from the back, then you must tug pretty hard to make the panel come off, don't worry you wont break it, just tug hard. After you remove the front panel of the set and you will see a cardboard panel with a few screws, remove that. Now you should see the three guns... they should be labeled respectively. Now to fix the problem... You will see a phillips screwdriver pot on each of the guns... if you have a red line then turn very so carefully the red pot, blue the blue pot, green the green pot, you only need to make a slight adjustment and the lines will go away, when you first turn the pot you will need to break the factory glue seal, the seal is so that the set doesn't go out of whack during shipment. I had great success adjusting the pots, made my green lines go away instantly. One thing to keep in mind, when adjusting the pots you are changing the voltage to the guns, this works great only you might run into problems in the future with your guns blowing out, this happened in my case, fixed the lines for a few years but blew out the gun. To wrap things up... this set was poorly made with less than mediocre parts... almost everyone i know who has this set has the same problem... to fix this problem when the set is out of warranty will cost more than buying a new one... so... take your set apart and fix it and hope you don't run into problems in the future. Hope this helps... Jer
