The acer aspire 5100 doesn't have a webcam so it is no suprise it doesnt work, try explaining what webcam it is that isnt working then you may get a more informative answer

Make sure your drivers are installed and updated. If you haven't, you can download the driver directly from the company website by clicking here.
I recommend rebooting after the installation finishes, to make sure the system will recognize the driver. If this didn't work, respond back and I we can try some other solutions.
You have to activate it, Firstly press "Fn" (next to Ctrl) and then add "F6"(the key with the webcam symbol) , that's how we got it working Tell me if it helps ,this worked for me !!!

Open WLM Click ( > ) Open Menu > Tools > Audio and Video setup - set default mic and test > Next - set webcam as default and trim using 'Settings' > Finish

Download and install it and you will be fine!
