John it seems that the photo's have been placed in a locked folder or the format has be alter. to a no readable format by your camera I would contact Nikon about the issue they are pretty good with help desk, hopes this helps. The Q
Neither the drive nor the camera can function as USB master devices (the small USB connector indicates that). Even if you got a cable with small connectors on both ends, the camera and the drive would both end up waiting for the other to tell it what to do. You need to use something that can function as a USB master (like a laptop computer). There are other portable backup devices that have this capability, as well as displaying photos.
There is an alternate way of downloading images from the memory card from the camera.
Get a USB memory card reader, remove the memory card from the camera, insert it into the card reader, then plug the card reader into the USB port of your computer. You will now see card reader as an external memory device, open the folder and copy your photos onto your hard drive.
Hi,
the 950 has no USB connection, its pre USB, there is a rs232 serial port but it is incredibly slow.. i mean really slow.. hours to download a 64mb card.. its the headphone like socket under the rubber flap on the edge near the shutter button. If you don't have a cable getting one may be a problem these days
By far the best way to get pictures downloaded is with a CF card reader available from almost anywhere and would download your images in seconds over usb2 and wont need special drivers.
I have bought two Nikon D300 in the past ten days, the first camera had stuck pixels, 12 of them, red dots in every image. The second Nikon D300 is so noisey in every ISO other than 100... it is worthless to me at this point. Sharp as a tack, but so noisey, the sharpness is moot. I think I have a solution, but it will involve dumping a $164,000 Nikon equipment history over the past 30 years and embroidering new patches on my photo vest which read, CANON! The fact that I even have to consider such a move makes me nausious. Nikon has betrayed many of it's biggest fans, me being one of them. I don't know what happened at Nikon to allow them to fall so far behind Canon, who trailed Nikon for nearly 40 years, but SOMEBODY SHOULD BE FIRED!!!!
Yes and no. Although you cannot directly attach the camera to a USB port, you can purchase an Olympus USB SmartMedia Reader that will facilitate the transfer of images via a USB port.
