Need help with Compaq MV5500 CRT 15 inch monitor

It will cost $50 to $100 to trouble-shoot and repair any 15-inch monitor.

It will cost $20 to $40 to purchase a "pre-owned" 15-inch LCD monitor.

If will cost $50 to $100 to buy a new 17-inch LCD monitor.

Your money; your choice.

It is broken. Replace it.

If you look online for a "previously-owned" 15-inch LCD monitor, expect to pay $20 to $30.

If you go to any "big-box" electronics store, you can buy a 19-inch LCD monitor for under $100.

Either way, it's much less expensive to REPLACE it
than it would be for a professional TV/video technician to try to trouble-shoot and REPAIR it.

remove battery ,remove power,plug hold power button for about ten seconds , plug power in press start seeif tht fixxes it

1. Check if your battery is fully charge or if there is power in your Compaq Presario 900.
2. Check for defect in your power switch.

since your computer didnt recognize your monitor just add it manually ...if its an hp lcd screen hit the button above the power button on the monitor and it will auto adjust itself..if it still dont work go under control panel to monitors and add it.

I'm having problems locating a manual. Compaq doesn't seem to support the model anymore. Reading a review online, It almost looks like Compaq had an Application control this instead of practical buttons on the front. RTM all there is is this RTM and play with knobs.

What is so wrong here, is no PC stated.
monitors this old do not work on modern PC, unless you learn how to do that. (skill sets that)
step one set PC to 800x600, (screen reso)
then plug it and and pray the CRT brain works. still

that is all there is to it.
power on PC set to 800x600 reso
power on CRT.
push left select button (spoon fed)
see no signal on screen, means PC is dead. signals on vGA jack.
see out of frequency, message , see 800 above.
that book stinks btw.
lets find others.
