I have a Kenmore 110 electric dryer, model # 96520110. The tumbler no longer rotates/spins. It still heats. I thought it was the belt, but was told that it has no belt and to check the "dog ear agitator". What could be wrong and how can it be fixed? Thanks!

The person who told you "it has no belt and to check the 'dog ear agitator'" thought you were talking about a washer.

Your dryer does have a belt and the belt is probably off the pulley or broken. The procedure below describes how to disassemble and service the interior.

Disconnect power and turn off gas before working on this dryer. Working on gas dryers is not recommended for people who are not professionals.

Disconnect Power. Pull out lint filter. Remove two Phillips screws taking care NOT to allow them to fall into the blower housing. Place putty knife in the seam between the top and front panel about 2” in from either side. Push in on clip while pulling control panel forward and tilting putty knife handle up, all at the same time. Same on opposite side. Raise top all the way.

Looking down inside dryer on left and right see a 5/16” hex head screw about 6 inches down. Remove each side while holding front panel in place. Pull top of front panel about 3 inches forward from sides and then pull up. This will disengage the front panel from lower pressure clips and allow you to turn it sideways and expose the dryer interior. Reverse process to re-assemble. Take careful note of belt configuration BEFORE removing it. Draw a diagram of its travel.

Motor and idler pulley for dyer will be on right.

When push start button it not come on only beeps kenmore model 88042

Most dryers are belt driven to rotate the tumbler. Some models have a switch that forbids the motor to start if belt has snapped. Check to see if your belt is trashed and needs replaced.

Kenmore 96272100 won't spin, but heat comes on....

Broken belt most likely. I looked at your model number and your belt number is 341241. Your actual model number with prefix is:
110.96272100When ordering parts you always add the 110. Anyway to replace the belt you first remove the filter. Then you must remove the 2 screws that hold the filter housing to the top because you gotta raise the top. To raise it you grab the dryers back side right behind each hinge and pull the whole top forward a bit while lifting on the front of the top to release the front portion and rotate it to the back. Then you will need a small screwdriver to assist in unplugging the door switch. Then remove 2 screw holding the front on and LIFT up the front to keep from damaging the bottom clips which are flimsy. Once the front is out of your way get the drum out and inspect the rollers. You can lube them with zoomspout oil, it is safe for appliances.

Hi i went into my dryer and pushed the tumbler the wrong way and heard something pop and now the tumbler doesnt rotate how do i get to the belt this dryer is very old but looks like this one .thank you oh...

You broke the belt. To replace it, pop the top ... use a screw driver. Remove the screws at the top of the front, remove the front, the drum will fall free. Take Pictures.

Dryer tumbler won't turn but heats up

turn on for a short time and listen for a low hum. if present, this means the motor is stalled. take of top and give the drum a push. if it then starts to run then the motor capacitor is faulty
