I have a ASUS DRW-1814BL and need to connect it to my new slot loading mac running 10.5, purchased the special cables to connect this internal drive to the mac as an external and it definately says it's compatible but the mac doesn't see it and doesn't even mount on the desktop...HELP!

    The drive came with no drivers and the asus site doesnt support it :-)
    The cable also has no mac drivers yet it says there was supposed to be a sit file on the disk :-)
    I was hoping plug and play but am really dissapointed, maybe it's a intel mac thing

    Thanks guys, I'm throwing in the towel! Before I purchased this item I researched and other mac users were using it but there was limited information. Next time I'll be smarter and research more

Make sure that you have installed the necessary MAC drivers for your device and that the port to which your device is attached is free and non-conflicting with other devices

    it is basically a driver issue for your mac. if it has no default usable driver for mac then there is really no other way to make it work. however, try to notice if there is BIOS option to enable to make you MAC notice it. Lastly, contact ASUS regarding the issue.

    sir, i just searched asus website for support drivers for your device under MAC but unfortunately, the device you have is definitely built for windows OS only.

Hi,
Please try uninstalling the DVD drive you can do that from the device manager.
Then from the control panel, select 'add new hardware'. Select 'CD/DVD drives', and reinstall it.

try reinstalling your operating system ( try format your cd or just repair it). The system will automatically detect the driver for your drive but if it was not listed in the bios try checking the cables attached to your drive.. or still if not.. the drive may be damaged.
