ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Zoom Browser doens't work on my Windows Vista with my EOS 350 D.
You can use Paint for downloading the pictures, that works on my Laptop. But it takes too much time. It is boring. Canon doesn't do a good job.
I had a similar problem, I was able to view the images on the camera but could not download them to my computer. I have an external cd drive, HP CD writer plus. This drive does not require me to finalize my CDs in order to download my pictures. With the damaged CD, I used a piece of software called BADCOPY to recovery the files(pictures) on the CD. I was able to recover all but one picture from the damaged CD. (I tried using the cd drive on my pc and the recovery software did not find anything, I had to use the external drive)
