Can't Change Text Msg. Alert Sound on Samsung A167

There does not seem to be a way to change the text message alert tone on this phone(!) There are 4 default ones (that ****, by the by) and I am unable to use any of the downloaded tones.

Like.... seriously?? ..... ?? LOL. This can not be true; contrary to my unremarkable experience with the A167, I have to believe that this one, simple setting ... ******* EXISTS! Sweet Jesus!

.... right?:)

SOURCE: message alert volume

It seems to be a problem on all these Sony Ericsson phones.

You can make it louder by going to setting/profiles and select an outdoor profile.
Also choose a sound that is very audible, you'll have to download one. I recommend: Zedge, http://www.zedge.net/
and a bonus, http://www.ownskin.com/

SOURCE: voicemail alert tones

I think that there is just a generic message alert tone setting applies for both vm and text. If your voicemail alert tone and message alert tones are the same, this is probably the case. I have searched the menu on my phone and haven't found any setting to change vm tone specifically.

How to change message tone on Samsung gt s 3653

Dear,

The msg alert tone depends on the current sound profile of your phone (like normal, silent, driving etc).
1. Go to main menu -> settings -> phone profiles. You should find all the profiles available in the phone. For example, we will change the msg alert tone for 'normal'.
2. Tap on the box with the double arrow (>>) symbol next to normal. You should enter a screen saying call alert type, voice call ringtone etc.
3. There is a drop down menu at the top right side of the screen. Tap that and select 'new messages'.
4. 'message alert type' should be melody or vibration & melody, depending on your preference.
5. now select 'message alert tone'. The phone has a number of tones already stored. Select one of these.
6. Or select 'sounds' at bottom right and browse to any file you want to set as message alert tone instead..
7. Save and exit !!

How do i change the text message alert?

By alert you mean the Tones of the Incoming Messages:

Go to Menu--Settings--Phone Profiles--Click the Arrow next to the profile you have already been using--on the top You will see an arrow facing download (a drop down menu button)--click--select New Messages--on clicking the Message Alert Tone box you will see loads of tones that you would want to select--in case if you want any song or tone that you have on you mobile to be your default message alert--select "sounds" at the bottom--select the "arrow" on the top go to the directory where you have the tones..select it and "Add" and then click "Save"
Hope it helped...Let me know if there's any problem...
