My iphone 3g screen broke, so I bought an oem new screen and replaced it myself. All is good, except a couple of things. When I make or receive a call, I can not hear out of the speaker in the phone. I can hear if I touch the "speaker phone" option or if I bluetooth it to a head set. I figure one of the plugs must not be pluged in all the way. The only other problem that I am having is that it wont acknowledge when I touch it arond the the very edges of the phone. Do you know what could be causing this and how I can fix it? If it is a plug, which plug is messed up.

Unless you bought good insurance for the phone, you get to use it with a broken screen. Clear packing tape over the screen will help keep it together but be prepared for degraded performance over time. Start saving up for a new phone and think about the replacement insurance next time.

the iphone is solely locked to the att network and it appears that when you got your iphone at alower ios like 3.1.3 it was unlocked and jail broken, but now that you've updated you broke the unlock, thats what every update does, the good new is that currently there is a jailbreak out for the new software which you know already because you did it. the bad news is that there isn't a unlock for the 4.1.2 ios as yet, if this is you only phone my friend sorry to say but you screwed the pooch but if you have another phone that you can you for a couple of days/weeks then your ok.

Chances are that like most touchpad screens it has to be "calibrated" similar to calibrating Palm Pilot screens.

Finding this procedure may be a problem, however it is likely in one of the setup screens. You MAY have to re-initialize the whole thing.

Another thing, try resitting your screen wires. #1, #2, and #3. Maybe that will work.

You broke the screen. The only fix, is to replace the screen.

AT&T doesn't have good 3G service. Often you may find that you do not have 3G reception, and the phone switches to EDGE. This is not a problem with the iPhone. I live in a metropolitan area, so I do not experience problems, since 3G coverage is good. However, when i travel around, often i go to EDGE as well. Like i said this is a problem with the network and not your phone.
