Have 3680 came with win xp home and power dvd...did fresh install with xp disk no dvd player in start menu what next

If you change your operating system to Win Xp, you will loose your camera, dvd burner and possibly your ethernet controllers to get on the internet. Win Xp does not support them. Are you sure you want to do it anyway? If so, all you have to do is put the Win Xp disk inside the cd/dvd player on the pc and restart it. You will see "press any key to boot from cd". Press a key to follow the prompts and keep hitting the continue or next prompt until finished.

Try to re-install 2 Operating systems use this order,
1,Install windows XP by booting the XP cd,
2,and then install Win 7 by booting from Win 7 cd.
Then while you restart computer there will be a prompt menu asking to select OS to start. Thanks

Hi! Try to go to bios menu via F2 or del while system is starting up.Go to sata operation, change IDE to AHCI or vice versa, save settings then try to reinstall os(win xp) again via booting to the disc (F12) and choose cd/dvd or odd...hope this helps...Cheers!!!

try this one first:

if you are using windows XP

- click start
- click run, in the run type in regedit
you will see a registry editor window
in the registry editor window

- click the + sign at the hkey_local_machine
- click the + sign of system
- click the + sign of currentcontrolset
- click the + sign of control
- click the + sign of class

there will be bunch of random letters and number under that control
try to find this one

if you click this check if you will be able to see DVD rom at the right side of the registry editor window
you must delete the upper and lower filters
after that restart the computer and try to put in dvds


for vista or win7

- click start and type in the start search regedit
after this just do the same thing with the win xp instructions

try also to update the DVD codec. you can also try to download the most updated windows media player, power DVD or any software/program that have dvd codecs or that acts like a player for DVD

The prolem is with Windows Xp cd...
When i try to install through the Genuine Win XP cd then it works fine...
Ok...
So use the original softwares....

have or can you get a win 95/98 disk...
these disks utilize the dos enviroment...
when you boot with them you can easily get in the dos platform (c://prompt)
once there type in fdisk and follow instructions.
you can also do this from usb ..you need to make usb bootable first.
you may be able to use xp disk and choose repair which will take you to the dos prompt.
you may be able to format hd with vista disk and before it start to install files interrupt it(remove disk)
not advisable though.
if you want program to create bootable usb let me know.

Hi, I think the problem lies with your bios setting. Set the POST to first boot from the CD/DVD drive. If it is set to first boot from the CD/DVD drive, then the problem comes from the disk. It might not be a bootable disk. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks, Mike H

Usually the problem lies with your Software or Windows Installation. The problem is when you Boot your computer it can't read because some how the hard drive got scrambled. You have to Install a fresh windows to solve the problem, no other way around it. Obvioulsy, its no good to you in this condition, Insert your Installation disk and turn the computer off and then back on, Install a new Windows. Good Luck. When the computer asks you if you want to install windows to that drive, you might want to consider if you have to delete that partition, and then create it again, after you do Windows will automatically format the disk for a fresh installation.
