Hello, This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of a set of coils Yours may differ but it's the same concept. You will find them mounted to the saftey valve at the rear of the igniter. MOD. MDG6200AWW SER.# 31658508YW - 57d5263.jpg This should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike

I have a Kenmore Dryer Mod#110 62722101. It will run about 10 minutes and shut off, after a cool down period it will restart but only run about 10 mins. Heats, fine, tumbles fine. A few days before this...

If it runs after a cool down period, then the high temperature limit is part of the cause. What is causing the high temperature limit to overheat is next.
Strong stream of air should be felt coming out the exhaust, make sure this exhaust air works or the burner part will overheat and cut out the flame/burner on hight temp safety.
With good exhaust air varified, the drying air operating temperature sensor needs to be checked, this cuts power to the burner. The sensor must open electricaly when satisified on temperature and should be properly mounted for proper sensing of temperature.
Bottom line: Check the hot air and its control

I have a Maytag dryer MDG6200AWW and at first the machine dried the clothes fine but never shut off. The second load got hot but not long enough to dry whole load. The timer does not advance at all. ...

Remove the front panel to get to the gas valve. To remove the panel remove both screws holding the door hinges and the screws on the opposite side from the hinges across the door opening.
Remove the metal bracket holding gas valve coils.
Replace both gas valve coils, part number 279834.

Good luck,

Gas dryer won't dry

kbaker926:

This is a purchased product manufactured by another manufacturer for Sear.
It sounds as if have a flame sensor or a thermostat opening turning power off to the burner thus flame goes out.

If you are able to to catch the dryer just as it shuts off you would be able to do some ohms readings to find out what components have opened in the curcuit.

((((This is only if you are able to properly use and read a Volt-Ohm meter))))

These checks should only be done with the Electrical supply turned OFF and at least one wire disconnected from the component being tested

Dryer is gas model dg212 flame come on but will not stay on long enough to dry clothes

if burner lights but fails to relight after several shut offs suspect burners solenoids change both they come in a kit ..once the solenoids get hot they will sometimes open electrically and fail to reenergize after cool down they will open gas valve and alow burner to reignite..also be sure vent to outside to clean and vent behind dryer is not flattened or kinked has know flame to not be properly burning due to exhaust problems and flame sensor would shut burner down

FRIDGIDAIRE GAS DRYER MODEL # GLGR642AS2 IS NOT DRYING CLOTHES BUT GAS IS IGNITING. THANK YOU. DON

Hi Don,
So let me get this straight, you are getting heat from the gas burner and the drum rotates but your clothes remain wet? You can check a few basic things to identify where the problem lies.. First off, have you checked the lint trap and cleaned it? Secondly, have you checked your vent system ( meaning : are you sure it is not clogged anywhere in the duct or at the end where it exits outside? If that's OK.. when your system is drying clothes.. do you get hot air flow at the end of that duct? If not, your blower may not be working ..You need to move that hot air out of the tub for the system to dry. Heat, Motion to move clothes, air flow from the blower and an unimpeded path via the vent duct to outside.. Hope one of these things to check gets you going. Regards...
