Turning the player on
1. Check the polarity of the battery plus (+) and minus (-), matching the indication in the battery compartiment
2. Switching the player on viewing next image, moving switch 2 towards the USB connector until the display shows up.

When the player doesn't respond, the firmware could be corrupted.
Run or Download first and run later, the Pearl firmware version 2.0 with next link from the support page or with the direct link:

RCA TH1101 MP3 Player short battery life

Are you using the cheap AAA batteries? If you are, that's your problem. Try getting some more expensive batteries or even better get some rechargeable. That's what I did with my RCA Pearl. Bought the batteries yesterday and it's still working on the same battery almost 24 hours later. hope this helps. Good luck my friend.

Downloading

All u have to have is yahoo jukebox, thats the easiest way i think.
Then just plug ur mp3 player into ur computer and it should pop up when u click the actions button on yahoo jukebox, then just drag the songs into the list and then hit "copy to portable device" and ur mp3 player should be listed there and then u can get the songs onto your player.

Battery, turning on

Batteries can go bad even if they are not used. The battery may be past it's expiration date. Just try putting in a new battery.

My rca th1101 mp3 player does not detect my sandisk

Make sure the SD card does not have a storage capacity greater than the internal memory of the Mp3 player, or the Mp3 player will not reocgnize it in many cases.

Just got the RCA TH1101

RCA TH1100 Series:
RCA TH1100 Series:
Remove and reinsert batteries - if that fails, go to RCA website for firmware upgrade - if that fails:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If that fails, it's dead.

The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes ,format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player tiself.
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
You may also want to check
http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=25
for any firm updates - the above procedures in some cases undo the original formatting on the player, and a firmware upgrade will be required to replace the Mp3 player's formatting.
