No power to my WD 1TB

I'm on my 3rd. (160GB, 320GB & ...).They are awesome, truly. Just, a few days ago I heard the power blow & thought is was the plug, but when I tried with my other power supply, also nothing. It must be the Power unit on the actual Book. How can I repair this?

If its under warranty then get it sent back.

If its not then almost any 3.5 " external sata enclosure will do so long as it has its own power supply. and if that supply is a wall-wart then should you pooch that, they are so easy to pick up and replace.

If you need quick access to the files remove the disk and fit it to a suitable computer.

How do I reset Electrolux E48DF76EPS?

Only way to truly shut it down and bring it back up is a power reset from the household circuit breaker for about 10 minutes. Then retry.

I accidentally droppped my brand new 320gb WD Passport now it isn't working it lights up & it has a tick sound then stops spinning...pls help.. :(

Most likely you have damaged the actual harddrive, the ticking sound is NOT A GOOD HARDDRIVE SOUND! Contact western digital and tell them that your NEW harddrive is making this sound out of the box DO NOT MENTION DROPPING IT. They should RMA it as long as you really did just buy it.

I have a 320gb WD hard disk and it was working normally but few days ago when i plug it, it could not work. ( the light is on but there is no spinning sound)

Seems to me a defective interface circuitry.
These devices have a USB-to-SATA interface inside their enclosure. If you can find another enclosure with a similar interface (or buy a new enclosure), disassemble your hard disk enclosure, get the hard drive out & attach it to the interface in the other enclosure & see if it works.

Another possibility is that the interface could be fine, but the hard drive itself died. To test this possibility, try attaching the hard drive directly to a PC. Since the hard drive is a SATA drive, you will be able to do this easily.

Western digital my book 1tb freezing while using itunes

Some times with external USB drives you have to remove both the power and the USB cable from the drive, wait like 30 sec. then connect it back up. I know it sounds trivial but see if that helps thing. There was some forum chatter I heard a little big ago about the 1tb WD my books concerning the power supply and this type of behavior. You might want to check with WD to see if they have a recall on your power supply.

sounds like you are using the wrong power supply. Check the amp output on the power plug you plug into the wall make sure its the same as the amp input of your external harddrive

WD Scorpio Black 320GB SATA drive

Halarious, I had the same problem yet I used norton ghost. At least you still show 160 gb. Mine went all the way to 60 gb. Here is what I had to do to reclaim the lost. I downloaded something called "Magic Boot Disk" It gave me the whole 320 back yet have not found good cloning software yet. Magic Boot Disc is freeware avaliable at http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2006.02.10-Magic-Boot-Disk/ Good luck cloning
