NO SOUND I have recently purchased a Philips TV Model No 37PFL5522 & I have connected the surround sound system (above) as I had on my old TV a Philips 28PW6506/05, but can get no sound coming out of the surround sound. The connection has been via the audio cables, from the TV, "Audio In" to the surround sound "Audio In", this was as before on my old TV. Then from the "Audio Out" sockets on the surround another lead goes into the back of my Sky receiver, again no sound. But if I swap the leads in the back of surround sound I can get sound through my Sky receiver if it is on, but still nothing through my TV!!!! Can you please help? Kind regards, Kevin Godbeer

If your surround sound receiver unit has rca audio inputs(red/white), you can hook up any brand of DVD player that has rca outputs. You would hook the yellow output from DVD player to yellow input on TV. Hook red/white output from DVD player to red/white input on surround receiver. Hope this helps.

No sound with HDMI cable connected to Philips 42PFP5332/10 TV

Sony Vaio laptops do not allow audio through HDMI only video. You can run audio from your laptop however to a surround sound system.

The Way Im understanding your problem is,
it seems like you need to hook your rcas directly to the tv and switch the surround to aux or something similar to that.

Is the volume on the dish network device turned all of the way dowm?

Is the dish network connected to its pwn input on the SS system and did you turn the SS system to that input ?

Are you using the analog input (red and white) cables to the input from the TV to the SS System?, not from the SS box? This is not the correct setup?

No sound when using dish or regular tv

This may be old news but just in case ...

Typically you need to consider the surround system as the central point for sound distribution (and in newer receivers, the distribution point for video signal as well). So you need to think of your TV and Satellite as sound sources and connect them to the IN side of your surround sound system. From the back of your TV then, look for the Audio OUT (commonly Red for right and White (or black) for Left. Connect these to the IN on the back of the surround system. Likewise for your satellite box. Then make sure you select the appropriate source on the surround system. If the system supports the video signal, you can route that as well. Beware that you'll need some sort of simulation (provided by the Phillips unit) to upconvert stereo to surround ... check the manual online. If you post model numbers for the Phillips and satellite units, we might be able to direct you more specifically (provided we can find manuals online)
