Acer AL2671W 26 in. LCD Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 11, 2009

Hello, i´m repairing an Acer AL2671W, the initial problem was the image with low bright even the bright and contrast controls are at 100%, later the tv sometimes get blocked and will not response to keys nor remote, finally the tv will not turn on. Analyzing the circuit and testing the regulated voltages with an osciloscope i found oscillations on many regulated voltages on the video board, because of the bad quality of the electrolitic capacitors which have high ESR. After replacing many 100/16 electrolitic capacitors, the problem was solved but apparently the eeproms contents was corrupted during the past malfunction of the CPU when the voltages were unstable, some options of the menu do not work properly, and the image is a little dark even with the bright and contrast at 100% both, the 7 lamps CCFL are on, i think that some values in the eeprom are corrupted, i need a way to reset those values to the factory defaults using the remote control, or need the eeprom files to write directly to the eeprom chips. There are 4 eeproms, two 24LC02, a 24C08 and a 24C32. I think that the main eeprom is the 24C32, and is which is corrupted. Thanks in advance for your help.

Eooow! Tough one. One of the main reasons why DLP Pictures are "weak" is not due to lamps or main board settings for the screen. The "weak" picture is due to the dirty (and I mean dirty!) mirrors BEHIND and BELOW the main screen, and possibly due to weak or dirty lamps and associated mirrors/lenses. Remove the "Front Screen" completely (not just the outer lens assembly) and check for internal dirt on associated mirrors inside the screen area. Disconnect any cables to the screen controls first (if any).

My acer monitor image is faded and washed out

Adjust contract and luminosity: decrease contrast, see how it goes.
ACER monitors tend to have control settings that are out of the range for proper viewing.

Acer LCD Monitor AL2671W - screen too bright!

I had the same problem with my TV when I purchased it used. Select the input you are having troubles with and enter "Service Mode" by pressing and holding the "VOL - " button and "CHAN + " buttons on the TV, simultaneously until the screen flashes red one time.

At this point you will be in service mode. Pressing the "MENU" button will open a service menu, which is different from the typical user menu. From the service menu you can further adjust your image settings until you have a decent picture.

Initially my VGA input looked terribly bright and washed out. Now it looks incredible!
