I can't load Windows xp. Get this error with blue screen of death irql_not_less_or_equal I had windows 7 on it but not all of my devices would work. Win-7 loaded with no problem . So I put xp in format and...

    Guest

In regards to getting the "irql_not_less_or_equal" BSOD this can be related to several things. You could be having a driver problem or a hardware related problem. To know exactually what your problem is we need to look at the stop code you are getting as well. The link below will show you what number I need to see exactually where your problem is.

    http://www.fixya.com/support/r4443711-blue_screen_death_bsod_important_info

Note Since you have gotten Windows 7 to install most likely the issue is driver related. So the thing to look at with your Windows XP CD does it atleast have SP2 as a part of the install. If it does not you may not have all the chip set drivers that the motherboard needs.

I bought lenovo G550 last week. It came with Windows Vista. I want to install Windows XP on it. I have found that lenovo has driver for windows XP so that will make my life easy :-) But when I try to...

you are most likely getting a BSOD with a stop error code of 0x0000007B which is caused by the Windows XP CD that you are using doesn't have the SATA Hard Drive controller driver needed to recognize and utilize the hard drive. If Lenovo has XP drivers for this model then they should have a SATA driver (roughly 394k) that will need to be loaded FROM A FLOPPY DISKETTE during the boot to XP. (XP Requires the driver to either be slipstreamed into the CD or loaded from a floppy diskette. Trying to load the controller driver USB or a different CD will not work)

I have a Dell-Inspiron Laptop 1526 I had my hard drive replace by Dell once this year already, when I turn on the computer it starts to work and then stop Running Vista my warranty was up Sept 3 2009 like...

Your trying to downgrade this means you have to use vista cd to format the hard driver, and after the laptop restart, load the Xp. Also sometimes this code comes if you donot use the original xp windows.

    Computer restarts on shutdown

If your computer constantly restarts while you are using it, or if you are trying to shut down the computer after it has stopped unexpectedly, click to clear the Automatically restart check box. If you clear this check box, you receive an error message when the computer stops responding. This error message may describe the cause of the problem. You can also review the system log in Event Viewer to view the critical stop error that occurs when the computer restarts.

    1. Click the Start button, right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
    2. Under System Failure, view the Automatically restart check box. If the Automatically restart check box is selected, Windows automatically restarts if the computer stops unexpectedly.

    1. What the motherboard you had been using
    2. Whats the HDD

Check that your motherboard supports the higher HDD
Upto 80GB HDD Windows can load the XP with servicepack 1
But after 80GB HDD supports the WIN XP with service pack 2 CD only.  Try to install with the winxp having above sp1.

    BSOD in windows XP Professional

A stop error occurs when Windows XP Professional stops responding. Stop error messages can be caused by hardware or software malfunctions. The error messages appear on a blue or black background. The following steps, which also appear on the stop error screen, help you find out the cause of a stop error and how to fix the problem. To troubleshoot General Stop Errors: 1. Restart your PC. Unplug each new hardware device, one at a time, to see if this resolves the error. Try to run any hardware diagnostic software supplied by your computer manufacturer. 2. If this is a new installation of hardware or software, contact the manufacturer for any Windows XP Professional updates or drivers you might need. Click Get support, or find information in Windows XP newsgroups (under "Ask for assistance") and then click Get help from Microsoft in the left-hand column. 3. Check the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) to verify that all your hardware and drivers are compatible with Windows XP Professional. 4. If you can start Windows XP Professional, check the System Log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the device or driver causing the problem. 5. If you cant start Windows XP Professional, try to start your computer in safe mode, and then remove or disable any newly added programs or drivers. 6. Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for "Windows XP Professional" and the number associated with the stop error you received. Specific Stop Errors Some stop errors display descriptive messages such as "DATA_BUS_ERROR" that can help you determine the exact solution for the error. This section discusses how to troubleshoot specific stop errors, based on the type of error you receive.
