You do not need to add water to the air conditioner. Water will form and drain outside when it cools the space down, as it also pulls moisture from the air.

Absolutely not! This unit will take the water out of the air (warm/moist) and cool it with coils full of Freon (cold/dry) and pass it back into the room by way of the fan! I recommend you find the manual and read it thoroughly as a guide as well!
No you do not add water to A/C unit,its job is to remove moisture from the air,so make sure it is draining out the back ,if it wont blow cold after that get rid of it ac units are not to expensev anymore good luck
Do not add water to the pan under the air conditioner. Water may collect in the pan and could overflow the pan in some conditions. If you add water, you are more likely to have water spill from the pan. Air conditioners like this work by refrigeration. As the air cools, the air can't hold as much water and this condenses into the pan.
Actually, sportsfan, you don't need to add any water. In fact, there is no way to do it. Your unit works much the same way a dehumidifier does with auto evaporation function. In other words, it collects the humidity out of the room air a evaporates it, so there is no water removal on your part involved. While this water is being evaporated, it's also being cooled, so that cools your room. The hot air of the unit running is exhausted out through the window vent kit.

You don't add water to the unit! It is self contain refrigerant in the coils and piping. Water is from condensation the is removed from the air and should drain towards the rear of the unit to the outside where it is not wanted! I hope this helps you to understand your unit somewhat.
if its an air conditioner not humidifier etc, then no!
it will create condensation which can mislead people into thinking it has a leak, this is normal. it is only moisture taken from the air we are cooling
Has someone told you A/C units need water? This I've never heard of. The water you see dripping from an A/C unit is the condensate dripping off the evaporator -- it's removing water from the air when it cools it.
