LCD... Problem i have problem, my lg lcd monitor display across a green line horizontally

  • johnFisher Mar 06, 2009

one line across the full 22" of my screen. it is only 1 pixel deep, it changes various colours dependant on what programmes or games i am running. i have taken it apart and tried wiping and cleaning it, i even tried banging it nothing helped. i think that the only solution is to buy another monitor BUT this time i will be taking out the EXTENDED warranty. these lcd monitors are pretty straight forward and easy to take apart but do take care when doing so... if anybody has a real solution please e-mail me on [email protected] Many Thanks

Iiyama Monitor Model: Vision Master 17 (8617E Chassis)
Horizontal dark line across screen shadowing text or other complex display data - giving appearance of 3D grooves or just dark lines on light background - temp fix (few minutes) by banging monitor or jiggling the video cable (thats what threw me for a while)
Removed tube base board and ran over disc capacitors and other solder joints whether they looked dry or not. No re-occurence in 2 weeks of daily use. Seems to have fixed it. (Be prepared for a lot of metalwork and screw removal when opening one of these up - I still havn't figured out how to get the PSU/main board out of one !)

Horizontal lines across tv

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following
symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can
examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life
of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

My lg monitors screen is one vertical line red is comes up anothers is two horizontal line starting

This is an early indicator the LCD display is going and will only get worse. The only option down the road is to replace the monitor because the cost to repair will exceed the price of a new one.

1 line going across my acer al2216w 22" widescreen lcd monitor

Is the line still there if you unplug the monitor from the PC and bring up the onscreen display or menu? If so the LCD panel is likely bad, and would be replaced if under warranty. If the line is not there you can try to replace the VGA or DVI cable that connects the LCD to the PC. You can also connect the LCD to another PC and see if the lines are still there to make sure it is not the graphics card on the PC.
