I have a Honeywell thermostat and the fan runs continuously. Not sure if need to set on Auto fan and Auto Heat or what.

When heat on settings are fan-Auto System: Auto, heat, or EmHeat Fan never stops.

If you have the fan on auto and heat to off, the fan should turn off. If it continues to run, you could have a bad thermostat or combustion box fan control

Hello Donna,
You are right. The Auto setting will allow the fan to shut off when the fan is no longer needed.

SOURCE: Hunter 44630 thermostat

Here is a link that will have wiring diagram it is for a similar model hunter. Also check your dip switch on the back of the stat to ensure it is set for gas (HG) or electric heat (HE) depending on your type of unit. Good Luck. Rule of thumb for most four wire systems is RED (power to stat) Yellow (Cooling) Green (Fan) White (heat)

SOURCE: rheem heat pump. blower will not turn off

The fans are set to delay for 60-90 seconds to remove all heat from the heat exchanger/heater elements.

If the fan runs any longer than 3-4 minutes after the Emergency Heat shuts off, you may have a bad sequencing relay in the air handler.

I that no I set Honeywell thermostat wrong. Isn't working

What is model of the Thermostat

2-fywiog52uc2ssdn5xk2mhim4-2-2.jpg Did you check the Circuit Breakers to make certain you have not simply tripped a breaker?

In general, depending on where you live: If you will need Heat select Heat then set the desired Temperature
If you will need Cooling select Cool and then set the desired Temperature.
Fan should be set on Auto.

Is this a new hvac system? A new furnace can work differently than your old one. Does it shut off after a minute or two or continue to run? If it continues to run then call that professional back and let him fix it. If it shuts down after a minute or two then it is a feature of the new thermostat to squeeze all of the cool it can from the a/c coil and ductwork. Some of them have settings that you can adjust for blower delay on and off, read the manual that came with the t-stat and see if it does.

Have installed a new Honeywell thermostat. The fan does not turn off even when the room has reached the desired temperature. I originally replaced th ethermostat because the old one the fan ran forever and...

Most T-Stats have a On / Auto on a forced air system. On means the fan will run all the time even if it is not calling for heat. Auto only runs when calling for heat. Does the fan turn off in the auto mode at all? To test it...BE SURE THE FAN IS IN THE AUTO MODE ON THE T-STAT... Turn the thermostat all the way down and keep it there for appox 15 mins. If it is wired properly and the fan limit is set properly the fan should turn off. If it doesn't it is not the thermostat were the problem lies.

Most forced air units have a fan / high limit switch. There is a setting on the switch for the fan to turn on and a setting for the fan to turn off or it has a setting and a differental switch for it to turn off/on. Example - the fan comes on when the temp in the heat exchanger reaches 110 degrees F and will shut down at 95 degrees F after the thermostat is satified...this would hav a differental of 15 degrees F. It may be set to low and the fan continues to run long after all of the heat has been removed from the heat exchanger. This in turn will cause cool air to be coming out of the registers.

it sounds like it is time to repalce the stat, auto is set to allow the fan to run only when the heat or a/c is on, the switch for heat and cool will select either, and the temperature lever should allow contact for the bulbs to bring on the desired component. there are no replaceable parts on a thermostat, or I would try to walk you through replaceing them. good luck.. I prefer the honeywell vision pro or the white rodgers 9500 series stats

make sure the temper differ in cool mode are set 40-90 this is also a programable feature of this t-stat , by the way it also has offsets in the heat mode you might want to check this as well and make sure they are set check all wire connections for tightness and placement, also check to see if the t-stat is set to change from heat to cool auto mode or manual set to manual
